All,

I am waiting on NOA2 for the petition to be approved.

While waiting on NOA2, can I stay with my spouse outside of USA for couple of months by providing change of address for IR1/CR1 to relative's residence in USA?

Does this cause any problem in IR1/CR1 visa process delay?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Tanvee

We did this exact thing. My husband had all correspondence sent to his parents because he was in the process of moving. You can change the address online and it will only take a minute.

Ideally, the only thing you will recieve in the mail is the NOA2 and as soon as you get to the NVC stage, you should give them your email addresses so they will send everything via email anyway.

Alles wird gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, ist es noch nicht vorbei.

Hi msd, Thanks for responding.

Can you please provide more details, how it can be done. I did registered my email address for notification emails and will change the address before visiting my husband outside of USA. How to confirm that change in address was effective for IR1/CR1 visa to relative's place? Can i change the address while waiting on NOA2? or do i have to change after receiving NOA2? If I am visiting my husband i might not be working, is it ok?

Thanks in advance for providing the information.

Appreciate it.

You can change the address at any time during your move. Call USCIS customer service representative to do it.

For the year 2010, is your gross income so far above the poverty line for your household? If yes, there is no issue not to work the remaining of 2010.

You can also change your address online here if you'd rather do that.

And yes you may change it while you are waiting for NOA2. Don't wait to change it until AFTER you get your NOA2 because then the petition will be en route to the NVC and the USCIS will have no further knowledge of your case. They basically forward all the paperwork and their part of the deal is done. So it wouldn't make sense to wait.

A week or two later a letter of confirmation will be sent to the new address you entered. Just basically saying hey, you changed the address, is this the correct one? If yes, don't do anything, if not, notify the USCIS. That will be all.
