what are you filing for whats your background? Not really enough info here to help. They can request it for different reasons. Usually if you have a criminal background.

I'm filing for an immigrant visa as Family First Preference. I have a DUI from six years ago, and was arrested as part of that. I put this on the DS-230 form.

They might be requesting it because you were arrested and they need to match something up in your file. If you have a common name too they can request finger prints as well. I dont think being irish has anything do to with it tho lol.
