My husband is the US military and currently deployed in Afghanistan..We're already planning to file for the I-130 while he is there so that I can fly in the States just in time when he gets back from deployment. The problem is,we don't know what address we should put on the I-130....Its the question #18 about where the relative intends to live. Before he went Afghanistan,he was stationed in Ft. Polk, when he left for deployment,he put all his stuff in the storage and gave up his apartment. What address should we put there? Please help...Any information can help us...unsure.gif

This might be a good question for the military help line.

I would say that it might be possible to use his unit address or ask him what address he would use to have mail sent (APO or FPO sounds familiar maybe?). Then, maybe explain in the cover letter that you plan to get an apartment or live in base housing when he returns from his deployment. I do not know this for sure though so try calling the help line. There might be some wiggle room in this area for the military.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the help line only works in the states. You might be able to email them or your S/O might have access to a phone that might work.

good luck

my fiance is also deployed in Iraq. he planned giving up his apartment and put all his stuff in the storage. but i told him what address would i write down on the form. he said just to write down his mom's address or any immediate family so the USCIS can mail your approval or other notice and you and you husband would know any mail the USCIS would send.

I'm not sure if writing down a parents address is a great idea for you. It might work but I'm not very familiar with the proof of domicile required for the IR1CR1 process. Maybe someone more familiar with it or how it works at the embassy in the philippines can chime in.

I know that most people applying for that are required to show that there is a residence ready for the beneficiary before they arrive. That is why i thought there might be some wiggle room for the military, particularly when there is a deployment involved. I suppose if you will be staying at the parents house when you arrive that would work but you would need some evidence of that at the interview. It is also possible that by the time you ahve your interview your S/O will be home and able to establish an apartment or something for you.

Hopefully someone who's gone through the cr1 - ir1 process can help elaborate.
