Authorization for release of Federal Tax Data: There is only one of these forms in the I-864 package. If using a household member to qualify do they need to fill one of these out also ?

you bet ya. The IRS won't release any information for anyone they don't have a signed form for. So make a copy and have your co-sponsor fill it out and sign it and send it in along with everything else.

Good luck,

Joel

My wife filed her last tax return under her maiden name.. should the "Authorization for release of Federal Tax data" be filed out in her current surname or maiden name ?

Have her write the current legal name and she can put her maiden name on the bracket. It is not a big deal. They would know that the name has been changed due to marriage.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I used a household member to qualify and had the same question you have now. I called CSC directly with the question twice and both time they said the household member did not have to fill out the authorization for release of federal tax data. This was around June 2005 so I don't know if the requirement has changed. Call them to make sure, they are really friendly.

As for your wife name, I would put the name that is on her social security card. Go over the forms and whatever question you have write them down on a paper and call CSC directly. They will be more than happy to answer your question. That is what I did.

Tiger, do you mean you called the NVC about this? You mentioned CSC who does not deal with I-864. It is a good idea to call NVC to inquire about it.

simple_male it is the NVC I called. I always get the two confused. I called twice (different days) and got the same answer. They don't need the authorization form if it is a household member. I don't know if it has changed.
