A few questions about the Embassy interview

Hello,

I'm the American citizen and my fiance is living in the United Kingdom. We've already gotten the confirmations from nvc that the info was forwarded to the London embassy. My fiance has already sent in all the forms they asked and a letter stating he is ready for the interview. So now we're waiting but we've read that we should hear back with an interview date in 1-2 weeks and it's been 3 weeks. We can't really afford to call unless anyone can say they have experience with calling and they are quick about it.. So any other suggestions?

My second question is that we've been reading about fees and we keep reading different things in different places. Can anyone say for sure what my fiance will have to pay at the London embassy to process the fiance visa?

Thanks

Ashley

You can call the Department of State and they can tell you if you have an interview date. Dial 202-663-1225 Then press 1 and then 0 for an operator. Have your case number ready. The call is just long distance charges for the person calling from a US phone there is not fee for using the number.

Hey there. We're going through the same process.

Don't worry if it takes more than 2 weeks to get an interview date. There are a few people who have been waiting 3 to 4 weeks for London right now, and it seems like they're waiting to get the results of the medical before scheduling. Has your fiance had their medical exam yet?

If you're just wanting to get an update and see if they've received the forms, and have scheduled anything, call the DOS. It's a US number, not the £1.20 line in the UK. 202-663-1225 (Option 1 for main menu, then 0 for an operator). You'll need your LND case number that the NVC gave you. They'll have the info of everything that London has done to date.

As far as fees:

Medical Exam (Knightsbridge) £200

Visa Application fee (at interview) $350

Courier Fee (at interview) £14.20

Hope that helps, and GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much! That helps a lot. Yup medical exam was done last wednesday and packet 3 forms were sent off two weeks ago.. I'm calling now!!

And honestly it's more principle not wanting to premium rates to most likely be placed on hold.

Looks like I was wrong on that bit... I called, and we have an interview date! His medical is still next week, but we are scheduled for the 28th! Hooray!

You need to call up first to get the code to place in the subject line in order for them to even consider reading the email. If you have a valid reason they will give you the code which you will include in your email. Otherwise it will be deleted.
