Question about dating photos

Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for a long time, but this is my first post!

I'm putting together evidence for my I-130 application, and right now I am writing captions for our wedding photos. Our wedding took place on the evening of Sunday, August 8th, 2010--but the date on the marriage certificate is August 9th, 2010. I put 08/09/2010 as the date of the marriage on all the forms, just to correspond with the marriage certificate. But now, as I am dating the photos, I'm not sure of which date to put. I don't want to lie on my application...but I also don't want problems because the dates don't match! So here are my questions:

a) Was it correct to put the date on the marriage cert. as the date of marriage on the forms?

b) What date should I put on the photos? The correct date (with a note explaining the discrepancy), or the date that's on the marriage certificate?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Erin

Hello

You can include a note with the pictures stating that even though the marriage ceremony ( Party ) occurred in the 8th of august, the marriage

certificate was issued and dated the next day which is the 9th, that way you are safe if you labeled the pictures with the 8th of

August. and you fill in the i-130 application with the date on the marriage certificate.

Good luck

I am not a professional but in my opinion I would just put the date it says on your marriage certificate. That is just me.

 I would agree, that way everything corresponds to what actually happened.

I think I'm going to do it this way. I realized today that if I date the photos for the 9th, they'll overlap with the dates on the hotel receipt from our honeymoon. Best to just be honest!

Thanks!

I have completely off-topic and rather personal question. When you (or anyone for that matter) went through the whole motions of wedding, were you carefully saving receipts and such? Didn't that take away from the actual meaning and feeling of the whole thing? I can just imagine....

--Newly married couple walks into a hotel room--

--With lots of bags and boxes--

--Husband walks toward the back of the room--

Husband: Honey, what are you doing? We need that. Don't throw away the receipt.

Wife: -thinking did I marry a cheapo?- No, honey-bunny, I was just store it here in this receptacle that says trash.

H: I know what you're thinking. I'm not cheap. I need that for USCIS I-130

W: -smiles nervously- Yeah. That's true.

H: All right. You give me all the receipt of everything we do.

W: All right.

Ominous narrator: -facepalm-

You know, as un-romantic as it is/sounds, I wish I'd done that. I didn't think to save the receipts from the hotel, so I ended up calling up the hotel 3 times last week trying to get me copies of the receipts from our stay...I know it's not required, but I was so mad at myself for losing what would have been one more piece of evidence! So, yeah, it's unromantic...but it doesn't have to be THAT bad--just stick all your receipts in your wallet. No discussion necessary!
