My fiance and I are thinking about us getting married the next time I come to visit him in NY. We are thinking about just going to a court, get married. Nothing big about out. Then I would help him compile the I-130. I have no intention on staying. My question is what would I need to show in order to get a marriage license. Would I be allowed to take photos of the proceedings. Also I doubt my family would be able to attend. His mother and sister live in NY as well so they would be able to witness it. Would this be a problem when filing the I-130. Reason I am asking is that in a previous thread I saw someone post a long RFE and I got me kind of scared. I know each case is unique but it has me worried. My fiance said I am making things harder than they seem. We have beed together for 6 years and almost 5 of those years we have been together and I don't want to be appart from him any longer than necessarity because of an RFE. Any thoughts?

09/04/10: I-797 Received in the mail. Priority Date: August 30th 2010

Take a look at he requirements for getting married in NY. I'm not sure what long RFE thread you are talking about but simply getting married in the US does not lead to an RFE. If you could be more specific about what you're fearful of, we might be able to help you.

Remember, you should return to your country but you can file while you are in the US.

IMO that situation is not unusual at all. Many filers have a simple wedding with few people in attendance. We were in fact married by a local magistrate and had only 4 other people with us.
