Issue with surname in Indian Passport

Hi,

I am from India and my wife is in US. My spouse visa case is at the step of submitting AOS. Now I added my wife's name in my passport as spouse name. Its added with surname of mine but in all other documents its with her father's name. Will it create any problems during my way towards visa interview? If anybody is having knowledge about this, please share.

She can always change her last name in all her documents by providing the marriage certificate. When submitting your paperwork, enclosed a cover letter to explain situation and a copy of your marriage certificate.

BBNN - if anything, just have your wife create an AFFIDAVIT saying that both the names (maiden and married name) are of the same person. sEnd that with the application along with the marriage certificate. Hopefully that will do the trick.

What would be the structure and format (verbiage) of this name change affidavit?

I will try to craft one tonight and post it but it will be a few hours before I can do so.

If anyone has verbiage and content guidance it would be greatly appreciated

10. Therefore, the following names refer to the one and the same person:

BHATT Smitaben Jaydevbhai (Name recorded in school)

JADAV Smita Dipesh (Name after marriage)

Yes, it has to be on the stamp paper and be notarized by any lawyers in India.
