hello all,

my fiancee is in the process of setting up her appointment for K-1 fiancee visa interview. However, one of the requirements is for her to bring police certificate from China where she worked for 2 years. The problems is that her employer in China no longer exist due to legal problems with the employees and the local police where she worked does not like giving police clearances.

These are the only documents that she may not be able to provide.

Will this problem cause her application for the visa to be denied?

Would the US Embassy make an exception in this circumstance?

Is there a way my fiancee can get her police certicate by just having her work visa and valid passport to show the local police in china?

Please any help is appreciated.

thanks you for your time

RON

Try contacting the Chinese Embassy in Manila. They might be able to help you. Her visa will not be denied, however, they will be asking her to provide the police clearance, then you still have to wait before she gets approved.

The Department of State web site has what is called a reciprocity table for most countries in the world. It describes what types of police certifcates and prison records are obtainable. To be honest, I read it and I did not understand it completely.

Like some other countries it seems you cannot mail into China requesting the certificate. It seems you need to present yourself in person to get the documents. I am not clear about this because usually when a country does not allow a person outside the country to make the request by mail, the DOS considers the documents unobtainable (such as South Korea).

See the following link:

Search down the page for Police Records.

Good luck.
