Hey All, can you believe it's 'blipping' snowing here...so where's spring in CO??? lol

Thanks to everyone for all your kind thoughts....well I am finally able to get on here, we just got the internet connected at our new apartment this morning. Missed you guys! Was weird to go through the journey and not be able to get on here and talk to you.... so lots of hugs.

Well the trip was long long long....Bangkok was a bit freaky had double security checks and they got antzy about me carrying aspirin (Hammy the airports I saw including Bangkok had little smoking rooms in the airport lounges)

I got my Temp EAD stamp at JFK YAY!!! can you believe it is a tiny little red stamp that they put on the back of the I-94. I spent about 40mins in Immigration at JFK but there where a few families migrating. They went my packet and then asked me a few questions and then that was it.

Being together with Jake makes it all worth it, endless amounts of cuddles and being able to talk anytime time and for as long as we want.

My trip all up going via JFK to get the EAD took 41hours (it was a 2 pkts of twisties and 2 cadbury 100g hazelnut choc trip lmao)so I arrived with jet lag then when I got to CO Springs I forgot about the altitude sickness so have been suffering with that pretty badly...it's kinda like having a really bad hangover for days...although today I am feeling much better so i must be starting to adjust.

For those about to crossover it is the most scarey and wonderful experience all at once. Leaving family, not having a car or job does stress you out a bit but being with your loved one is the best! I had my first driving experience on the weekend thought it would be easy except I forgot that you have to handle the gear changes on the opp side as well...I was unco...so for now we are driving around the parking lot until i get it together enough to be safe on the road! lol Oh and we are getting married on Friday, just going to the local court house then out for dinner after.

Welcome to all the newbies in here....being a K1er that just crossed over, if you have any questions let me know am happy to help.

Hey Kath...we can chat at more normal times now...YAY!!

Talk soon

ANZAC day is here again everyone...

I invite you to join me in remembering and honouring the ANZACs by taking some time today to think about the toll of war past and present and to hope (or pray if you so choose) that we might one day live on an earth where there doesn't need to be any war at all. :innocent:

"Ode of Remembrance"

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Lest We Forget

First of all congrats to Jezz for her interview date.!:dance: Very good. And right around the corner!

Kath- Kev sent off for his interview I think thurs or Friday last week so we will see how that goes. His medical appointment is on 5/1 so I am kind of hoping it isn't as soon as Jezz.

We have decided for a beach wedding in South Padre Texas which is just a 5 hour drive from where I live. Depending on when he gets here i am thinking a July wedding... real small an intimate.

lol we both are not big into wedding planning. I wanted to elope but I think it would be a big selfish, I am my mother's only child she should see her child get married.

I am just glad I have a new job and it is going ok. I like it and I am starting to feel more comfortable. I am also working part time to save up some money.

Congrats to girlfrmoz with a safe trip to America! I hope to be in your shoes soon but without the cold!

Hi All

Kath I checked Continental's Checked Luggage Limit and it is as follows

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/conte...gage/check.aspx

Checked Baggage

Note: Continental recommends that you carry valuable items such as electronic equipment, cameras, film, cash, jewelry, medication,

prescriptions and keys with you on board the aircraft.

For domestic flights, baggage must be checked

at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

For international flights, baggage must be checked at least 60 minutes

prior to scheduled departure.

For domestic and international flights

(excluding certain flights departing for Guam)

baggage will not be accepted for check-in

more than 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure.

Your baggage will only be checked to your final destination.

Your name and address must be on the outside of your baggage.

Nametags are available at all airport baggage check-in locations.

We also recommend that you place your name and address

on the inside of the bag.

Please claim your baggage immediately upon arrival.

Economy Class Free Baggage Acceptance

  • 2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm)
  • (total length + width + height) per piece.
  • 2 Boxes instead of two free checked bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece

Boxes are accepted on a voluntary separation and limited liability basis only (space available only, in good condition and labeled). Boxes are not accepted on Expressjet Airlines, Inc. dba Continental Express ExpressJet destinations to the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. Continental Airlines shall not be liable for damage to boxes and their contents.

  • During an Excess Baggage Embargo , when no excess baggage is accepted: 1 Box, instead of 1 free bag; Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) will be accepted free of charge.

I hope this helps other VJERS going through with Continental Airlines

It is a guide for how much yo can actually bring in weight wise.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks everybody!!!

Moonie, I hope your SO's interview isn't as soon as mine too, it was a HUGE shock to get it processed so soon since other timelines have shown weeks between sending the letter and a response. I wonder whether the fact that I live in Sydney had anything to do with it being so quick? I guess when you guys get your interview date we'll find out. Don't worry too much about it, you can always change your date if you have to (my letter has an ACTUAL PHONE NUMBER on it... I'm too chicken to call it though)

Elle, Yup, the Affidavit of support, I'm pretty sure it still needs to be notorized along with the supporting documentation. Can anyone else shed light on this though? I've got everything here already only thing is, the tax stuff he sent isn't notorized. He has since got another copy of that notorized and it should get here in the mail any day now. If worst comes to worst and it somehow gets lost in the mail and doesn't get here in time, I'll just take the un-notorized version of the tax and if they want the notorized version they can pause the process until I can send it to them. Still, I have no doubt that it'll get here in time. I'm not worried.

A word on the digital DS-156 form and leaving spaces blank as opposed to writing NONE.

You should DEFINATELY write NONE. I went back and did the form online again as suggested by Kath and this is what happened...

On the last page I now have the following written...

"FILTERED NAMES

When 'NONE' or 'NA' are entered into any of the following fields: 'Other Surnames Used', 'Other First and Middle Names Used', and 'National Identification Number', the text will be removed by the EVAF software from the data in the 2D barcode. If the applicant's name actually is None or NA the post must enter the name manually into the NIV or RDS. The following fields have been removed:

-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 8 (Other Surnames Used)

-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 9 (Other First and Middle Names Used)

-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 14 (National Identification Number)"

Interesting huh? Glad I went back and redid it!
