Hello My VJ family,

We are getting all required documents together for my step-sons interview. Unfortunately my wife's interview was about 4 years ago and she can't remember a few things from organizinf for the interview. Here are the questions:

Can you staple sets of documents together if the document is longer than 1 page?

Can you highlight specific data on the documents?

How should the originals and copies be organized? Should they be separated with 1 set of Originals and 1 set of copies? Or should it be 1 set with the Original and copy together?

Is a timeline required in a step-son case? If so is it limited to how many pages?

03-10-06 - Sent I-129F to USCIS

03-15-06 - NOA1

03-25-06 - NOA2 Approval

08-28-06 - Interview!!!

11-22-06 - Got the Visa!!!

AOS Timeline:

02-08-07 - I-485 sent

03-12-10 - Emailed DS-3032 to NVC

03-13-10 - Received Email from NVC stating they received DS-3032 (Also received AOS Fee Bill and DS-3032 in the mail)

03-14-10 - Paid Affidavit of Support Fee and IV Bill online

03-16-10 - NVC Website updated to PAID for both fee's

03-17-10 - Petitioner and Agent received emails to further proceed with case

08-05-10 - NVC Case Completed

10-27-10 - Interview PASSED

10-28-10 - Picked up Visa

I think you could highlight documents as long they are not official documents or DS-230.

Better not Staple any documents, use PAPER-CLIP better.

Can you highlight specific data on the documents?

Yes, ONLY THE COPY ONE, NOT ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS.

How should the originals and copies be organized? Should they be separated with 1 set of Originals and 1 set of copies? Or should it be 1 set with the Original and copy together?

Organized which every easy way for you to show the CO.

Is a timeline required in a step-son case? If so is it limited to how many pages?

Sorry, I don't know

There is probably more than one correct or acceptable answer to most of these questions, so the following is just my opinion... :blush:

Mr. Nam prepared the documents for my wife and her kids, and he stapled a LOT of stuff together. It wasn't a problem at the consulate.

Can you highlight specific data on the documents?

Depends. What do you want to highlight, and why don't you think the consular officer will find the information without your help?

How should the originals and copies be organized? Should they be separated with 1 set of Originals and 1 set of copies? Or should it be 1 set with the Original and copy together?

Original and copy should be kept together. Again, this is how Mr. Nam did it, and it wasn't a problem.

Is a timeline required in a step-son case? If so is it limited to how many pages?

No. The purpose of the timeline is to help demonstrate a genuine relationship between the beneficiary and the petitioner. Your step-son only needs to prove he's your wife's biological son.

Yes, you can staple documents if they are longer than 1 page.

Can you highlight specific data on the documents?

Yes, you should highlight specific data you want to show.

How should the originals and copies be organized? Should they be separated with 1 set of Originals and 1 set of copies? Or should it be 1 set with the Original and copy together?

Both methods are ok.

Is a timeline required in a step-son case? If so is it limited to how many pages?

No, don't need a timeline.

However, your step son need to prove the relationship: you and your wife, your wife and son.

4/02/2010-----> NOA 2 - Hard Copy

6/14/2010-----> NVC Processing Complete

8/02/2010-----> Interview Date @ 8:00am - Result = PINK!!!
