I learned quickly what words I wasn't able to say in my American accent. W@anker and muppet don't work at all. It's the hard "r"s and "t"'s make me sound ridiculous, as does putting on a fake accent.

Not a BAD word, but calling someone a muppet is the same as calling them stupid, just an insult. One that I was never able to use with my crisp American accent.

"Muppet" is usually prefaced by "f^cking," at least when I say it. I often shout it at other motorists when I have the windows up.

Remember how I said my in-laws were having huge financial/personal problems, making it hard to live with them?

My MIL tried to kill herself on Tuesday morning. She's now in the hospital, and being transferred to a psych facility today. No health insurance. They're already north of 330K in debt. Apparently we're going to lose the house as well. What makes this worse is that my own mum killed herself when I was a teenager (both experiences were almost identical), and I'm now having night terrors again, haven't had that in years. My poor husband is dealing with that, as well as his own trauma of finding her.

If there is a God, I would like a word with him now, thx.

ETA: I realise this probably wasn't a good place to say it, but it feels good to tell people that aren't involved personally.
