Here's my review of my interview at montreal consulate for K1 Visa...

Arrived at 6:15 am...extra early, wanted to be first... people started showing up at around 6:45-7:00am.

Doors opened at 7:30am.

Went through security with my fiance and was giving letter A.

Sent down the stairs to wait for security guard who would be bringing us up to the floor where we need to be.

Waited about 10 min then was called to booth 11 and was asked for paper work... photos, passport, letter of intent, affidavit of support and supporting documents, police record, medical exam (no x-ray) and xpress envelope with my mailing address.

Was sent to pay $350... CASH! Boo ya!

Was called within 10 min back to booth 11 and was fingerprinted.

Then was told to go back to wait in the waiting room as I would be called in to booth 7 or 8 for my interview.

Waited around just over 2 hours for my interview.

11:15 called to interview booth number 7.

Waiting there was a really nice lady with short white hair and glasses.

Here comes the awesome part...

1. Walked in and was ask to raise my right hand and take an oath to tell the truth.

2. She asked me when we met and if i still worked for the same place and said yes.

3. She skimmed through my paperwork in front of my eyes and said, everything seems to be in order. Are you ready to marry in 90 days of entering the USA and I said yes.

4. She's like ok, you can go we will mail it out to you.

LOL! That was it, no lie, 3 questions.

The crazy part in everything is for the affidavit of support, I didn't take tax returns or nothing. Just letter from my fiances bank and work and bank statements and was approved. That was my only fear and nothing happened.

They didn't ask for my Confirmation page of they form we fill out on the internet, nothing. Crazy!!!!

I guess no matter how many times people tell you to relax cause the interview is easy, you just can't because it's just the way it is.

Everyone in the consulate was super nice, so don't worry, everything will work out

Thanks for everyone congrats, can't wait to with you all the same!

Alaba.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a question for you: When did you get your bank and employer letter? We mailed our packet 3 today, but I already have the, affidavit, bank and employer letter from my fiance but we probably won't get an interview for at least 4 months. Thanks for your help.

TBenjamin... As soon as I got my packet 3 i got all my documents together. My interview was August 10 and all bank letters and statements, letter from employer were all from May. So I had everything 3 months in advance. I even used the expired Affidavit of Support and they didn't say anything. Everything went smooth.

Congratulations on getting through the interview so easily! It should be pointed out that others' experiences might be much different from yours, so they should be prepared with all documents required for the interview. I'll bet you were nervous about not having the tax returns!

Good luck with your POE. When will that be?

Good point Erin!

Sounds like the same woman we had last year. We never did get to hear her say "Congratulations, you are approved!", she just told us everything was fine and that we could expect the visa in the mail.

Congratulations!

Very true, everyone take all your documents because some people are asked for everything... and yes i was nervous without the tax returns, but it trusted in God, and everything went smooth.

Better to take more then less. Always be prepared.

Congrats!! :)

Is the fee really $350 now? I must have missed that! Wow.

Yes the fee is $350, lol, they more then doubled the fee. Unbelievable.

LOL. That's how it goes. If you have all your ducks in a row they don't ask to see anything. But if you had just one thing left undone, you could be guaranteed they'd ask for it!
