hello VJ,

i hope some of u can help me on this:

im currently awaiting the package 3 from the consulat in frankfurt germany.

on the embassy homepage they talk about the medical appointment n when to do it.

i quote: "You should schedule your medical appointment no later than six weeks before your intended date of departure to the United States, and no earlier than six months before your departure date."

now my question is why not later than 6 weeks?

n well might it be possible to enter the us before those 6 weeks?

like i wanna leave germany as soon as i have my visa in my hand.

thanks for all the answers in andvance,

sarah

They know most people leave as soon as they have the visa, and are basically saying give six weeks (just to be safe) to get the medical results to the embassy. Most places don't take that long... but these are bureaucrats. It's taken 2 weeks so far for them to log paperwork in London that they received from us on July 29th.

Good luck!

hey dodi,

thats exactly the irritating thing to me since im planning on doing the medical before the interview n i think in frankfurt its taking like 2 to 3 weeks as of what i read on here...so it only has to do with the embassy where i ll have my interview receiving the medical documents then right? cuz to me it didnt make sense why to wait 6 weeks since well the medical isnt doing any tests with u that need any waiting or processing time itself...

so when i ll have my interview n i know they have my medical documents i dont have to worry about the 6 weeks there correct???

thank you sarah

I'd honestly consider the six week thing and just get it out of the way to be safe if I were you. You don't necessarily HAVE to, I guess, but if it's in the instructions... better safe than sorry. And they DO process the bloodwork. It usually only takes a few days at most of the clinics, but you never know what can happen.

Sarah, congratulations on your progress! I am learning so much from your timeline (we are only a few days after you) and my fiance, Tilo, is completing his package 3 now and I will emphasize to him to schedule his medical. He is also very stressed out about how fast the visa will be approved as he had to give a 3-month notice as required in Germany and so things are very time sensitive for us and we hope the remainder of the process goes by quickly.

Thanks and best to you guys!

Marena
