Hi,

I am watching with despair as people are reporting a wait of months before getting an interview date for Montreal :( I am still waiting for an NOA2.

I am able to move further west to fall under the Vancouver consulate and was wondering if anyone has done this? Is it feasable? Faster? I may be grasping at desperate straws here, but it is getting harder and harder to sit and wait!!

Any advice, thoughts or opinions?

Thanks-

Linda

by the time you inform USCIS of your move, and all the time it takes to move, etc. I think you would be no further ahead...plus I would be worried about USCIS letters crossing in the mail going to your old address, etc. I wanted to move when I was doing the K1, and was advised to stay put....but perhaps others have done it.....good luck

Montreal is an excellent consulate to work with, they just have tons more work to do than Vancouver. Adding the DCF option has added some to the wait.

I have heard of previous VJ members getting their cases transferred to Vancouver successfully, you may want to do a search and see if you can find the threads in which they talk about it. I personally wouldn't move into Vancouver's jurisdiction now that you are into the process, but that's jsut me :)

Not worth the hassle of moving, especially to an expensive city like Vancouver. Nor is it worth stressing at this point. Relax and enjoy the time you're in Limbo because it will be over before you know it. Trust me.

We had our petition successfully moved from Montreal to Vancouver but it was because USCIS screwed up. They sent our petition to Montreal because they saw that I was born in Quebec and missed the fact that I was living in British Columbia (I had been living in BC for the past 25 years). When I contacted them and explained what they did they appologized and arranged Montreal to transfer our petition to Vancouver once Montreal recieved it. It delayed us about a week or week and half but atleast I didn't have to travel to Montreal when I was living only 45 minute drive from the Vancouver consulate. They moved our petition so easily because it was their mistake, I am not sure they would move your petition for you to have a faster interview date.

If you thinking of moving to a western location to have your petition moved to Vancouver then I definately wouldn't recommend that. Having a new address anywhere in this process could cause further delays.

Thanks for all the input...I will likely sit tight out east, which is as good a place as any to stress. Do not wish to give the USCIS any opportunity to screw up :)
