So here's our situation, I am a student and my dad is going to be a co sponsor for my fiance who lives in Ireland. My mom doesn't work so as his dependents would we list myself, my mom, and my fiance? Or just myself and my mom? Or just myself? Please help! Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks ahead of time :D

If you're not claimed as a dependent on his taxes (or will not be this year) and are living outside the home, going to school, you are not his dependent.

He would just list himself and your mom. :)

Hope that helps!

Well I am living at home, and my sister was listed as a dependent on last yrs taxes but is no longer living here. So it would only be myself, my mom and I don't think he would list himself ( my dad) as a dependent if he is the one the I134 is pertaining to?) Would he list my fiance at all? Thanks!

Ok, if you're still living at home and are claimed as a dependent on his taxes, then he'll claim you and your mom. No, he won't claim himself as a dependent, I was just listing him as a member of his household.

No, he does not claim your fiance, that's an implied, impending dependent (say that 5 times fast!), because he's not yet here.

So he'll just need to make more than the requirements for a family of 4, which is about $27,562 (I might be off by a little there, I can't remember off the top of my head today. Too close to 5pm on a Friday for me. :))

okay thanks so much! I really appreciate it. He received his Packet 3 today, I didn't realize that you HAD to have your medical done before you send the checklist back to get an interview date. I thought you could send it back and get it done in the mean time of waiting. But oh well :( As far as I get from the letter, he only needs to send back the DS230 as of right now and the rest is to bring with him to the consulate.....I hope I'm right *fingers crossed*!

See Dodi's timeline? Her fiance sent back P3 already but his med isn't scheduled until 8/11. It's risky, but definitely doable if you time it right, Like Dodi. Probably ought to at least make sure Simon has the appt set first. Mailing DS230 a week before the med is scheduled shouldn't be an issue. It was a month before they called my husband to schedule the interview and a week to wait for the date to roll around. (Keep in mind this was all a year ago, things might have changed...)
