Question about interview questions ;)

Looking at some example interview questions, I noticed one saying: When and where are you going to have the wedding?

Is it okay to simply answer that it's been very hard to plan a wedding without knowing when we'd be approved, and that we are going to plan it in a lot more detail once the visa is approved?

Very grateful for any help :)

I suppose, if that's true... Seriously though. Even they tell us we're not supposed to plan ahead and have any detailed plan because it's not a sure thing that the beneficiary will get the visa. They instruct us not to quit our jobs, not to buy tickets in advance, etc. So to me, that sounds like a good enough answer.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

It's always OK to tell the truth, and the truth you've described is fine. Don't worry about it.

But surely you've had some sort of discussions about wedding plans by the time you get to the interview stage. Because of the frustrating constraints of the immigration process, you may not have a precise date and time set, but you might have some vague ideas, such as "We'll run to Las Vegas at the first opportunity", or "We'll have a simple marriage at the courthouse with a justice of the peace", or "We'll get married in our church in about two months."

There's no right or wrong answer, but it might look a little strange if you had absolutely no idea whatsoever about your plans, or if the two of you have completely different and incompatible answers.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Reading about it again, it'd sound strange not having any sort of plans, even if vague ones.

I agree with lucyrich.

We have no concrete plans as its impossible to guess when we will finally be granted a visa - but we DO know where the wedding will be held - who the best man is - how many people we'll invite etc.

I think an answer like that is fine.

Just tell the truth - you have nothin to worry about.

If they ask me, I'll say the truth. We plan on getting married in the first month after I arrive there, as soon as we get the marriage license, and we'll do a courtroom wedding with a small gathering for the family afterwards.

Thanks for your replies, all of you, it's very helpful!

We've talked about it quite a lot, and we are going to have a small wedding with just the immediate family. We've even looked at different locations to have it at while I've visited, so we do indeed have an idea. I'll just be honest, then, like you said :)

Hi, In regards to Your plans, the best is do a city hall marriage the week You get here and You can file for Your Adjustment of status Immediately. Then at Your liesure at not rushed plan a nice wedding at Your liesure, note You can still use the same license as You allready got married here, Just do so in the same jurisdiction as where You did the first marriage.

Good Luck
