Interview Documents LND

Affidavit of Support: Form I-864, a contractual affidavit of support, must be submitted for most family-based applicants and employment-based applicants when a relative is the petitioner or has ownership interest in the petitioner's business.

Employment based visa applicants must show a recent letter from their employer confirming that the job offer upon which their application is based is still available to them. Qualified nurses must also present their Visa Screen Certificate. All other applicants must show evidence that they are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Use of the form I-134 is an efficient way to provide this information to the Consular Officer.

What about the fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen who is applying for a fiancé(e) visa?

An I-864 is not required when applying for a fiancé(e) visa. An I-864 will be required at the time the fiancé(e) visa holder applies to adjust his or her status from nonimmigrant to conditional resident with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services(USCIS).

They'll both need to fill out an Affidavit of support - the USC is always the main sponsor, even if their money does not suffice to support the intending immigrant - her mother would be your co-sponsor in this case to help her come up with the amount necessary according to the poverty guidelines.

From what I've read on the website, they will both use Form I-134 + supporting documents.

Hope this helps. Good luck

Actually, you might want to check with the regional forum here to ask what the specific requirements for London are :)

Thanks for that information, still a bit confused, just need to clear one thing up though. as my fiancee is still a student in the US, her mother is sponsoring me. do they both fill out a 1 134 as co sponsors?if not, how else does it work?

they both fill out an I-134 - so that's 2 I-134's - one on yer lass, the primary sponser, and one on her mother, the co-sponser.

Both give to you, you hand it over on interview day.

Good Luck !

Some things to know about Lonon.

For the I-134 Question 11, the London Embassy wants the USC to check the box "I do intend." They will not accept N/A K-1 nor will they accept "I do NOT intend."

The joint sponsor should also check the same answer. Neither should list definite time frames or amounts as it is a lifelong committment. SImply write on the lines "I do intend" to provide housing, food, <other>, etc...

Good luck.
