Any Canadian K-1ers going to Buffalo?

I was just wondering if there were any of you waiting for your K-1 approval that were planning on moving into teh Buffalo area once approved? I will be adn Im nervous about being stuck there while I await my AOS without knowing anyone there apart from my FI who will be working a full time job...

I'm not a K1er....And my immigration journey is over....

But...

I am in the Buffalo, NY area....

(well, 1-2 hours away in NYS...but close enough that I travel there sometimes and Buffalo, NY is my 'local' USCIS office...lol..)

I also used to be from Toronto too (which is close to Mississauga where you are from)....

As well, there are other Canadian VJers in this area too....

So don't worry, you're not alone here in the Buffalo, NY area!

God willing ...well more like US Government willing I will be at my POE (proly Peace Bridge) sometime between Dec 30-Jan 2 or so.... we are hoping to marry in the beginning of Jan before two REALLY close friends fly back to New Zealand.

I'm the US citizen in my pairing, but we're in Rochester, too; my wife moved here in May from Toronto. :)

I'm the USC as well, but I work in downtown Buffalo and we live about half hour south of the city. Hubby is from Barrie, ON.

You can see our times in our signature, but he crossed at the Peace Bridge April 6 late in the evening (same day we got the passport delivered in Canada Post). A judge in downtown Buffalo did our civil ceremony for us in her chambers at Old County Hall in Buffalo on a Friday afternoon a few weeks later. It was super easy to get the marriage license at City Hall, and they gave us a certified copy for our AOS really quickly - we just asked that she expedite it and explained why when we applied for it. The Social Security Office on Union Road in West Seneca is the quickest one in the area, and go to the DMV early in the morning if you're switching your driver's license. I have been told the Buffalo City DMV knows what they are doing with transfering your license. We went to one in Cattauragus County (I thought the line would be shorter) and it took forever for them to figure out how to transfer his Canadian license. Any other Buffalo specific, feel free to ask - we'll share what we can.

To answer your other question, we filed AOS/EAD beginnning of May and got the EAD Monday (july 26), so about three months. We haven't heard about AOS yet, but are pending in California. Hoping August is the month for that! :)

April 23, 2010 - Civil Ceremony

May 1, 2010 - AOS/EAD Application submitted

July 12, 2010 - EAD Approved (Card Production Email #1 at 4:02 pm)

July 26, 2010 - EAD RECEIVED

August 5, 2010 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!

August 21, 2010 - Green card arrives

November 13, 2010 - Catholic ceremony

July 2, 2012 - ROC submitted to VSC

August 21, 2012 - Biometrics

February 27, 2013 - ROC Approved

Only one more step to go!
