I was excited yesterday when I realized it was my husband's three year residency anniversary. I know he's been eligible to apply for citizenship for a few months (and he already did), but now there's no concern about having to delay the oath ceremony once he is interviewed. Trust me, I wouldn't complain if his paperwork was processed fast enough for that to be an issue! I'll be happy once he gets his interview letter.

Anyway, it feels like we've reached a milestone or something. I kind of feel like we should celebrate.

Did anyone else get excited about their (or their spouse's) three year green card anniversary? Did anyone mark the occasion in any way?

I just thought this would be something interesting to mention.

Good luck to all of you!

Sorry to burst your bubble - actually no...I don't want to burst your's...I think you're entitled to it ! :)

I asked my husband how he feels about my anniversary coming up at the end of the year and he said he's rather non-plussed about it. He feels that whether I decide to apply for citizenship then or sometime in the future is totally my decision...I already know I will because I think there are benefits to be had.

Personally I don't want a big deal made out of going to the oath ceremony. I might just go by myself since it will be a work day and then I'll just head to the office afterwards.

but that's just me...and I think you should celebrate if you want to and let your husband know you think it's special!

My wife, the USC, is excited as well. I will be eligible in a month and she keeps reminding me about it.... so yes, it has been a rather long and stressful journey and at this point, we can start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.... as long as it is not the light from a freight train coming at you ;).

You have all the right to get excited!!!

Venusfire403-Congrats on your husband reaching the 3yr residency anniversary...And good luck too with his citizenship application and oath ceremony afterwards...

Hmmm..What an interesting question you ask about celebrating the '3 year milestone'...

Lol..I admit, I didn't celebrate such a milestone....

Since my 3yr residency milestone (November 14) was only a few days before my citizenship interview (November 18) and then the oath ceremony (November 23)....(all within a span of 10 days really...lol...)

Also, I figured that I would celebrate anything until after citizenship as I felt as though it wasn't "finally over" until that achievement happened....

Lol.."It ain't over with the USCIS until US Citizenship!", as I like to say....

As for how I celebrated when after I got US Citizenship...I just went out for dinner and got a build-a-bear....

Nothing fancy...Just low-key and something meaningful for me and my family....

Have fun too, when you celebrate for when your husband gets US Citizenship (and yes, do post about that on VJ too)

Good luck on your journey and congrats again.

I didn't have time to be excitied because they were so fast at processing my N-400 that I had my interview about 2 weeks before my anniversery. They just said they can't give me a definate answer because my 3 years hasn't been met, but said just wait by the mail for the oath letter. Kind of confusing, but I got it a few weeks later, so knowing I passed the interview overshadowed the need to be excited for the 3 year anniversery...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...
