just ran across this, thought some might find it interesting as it explains how the election went:

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 61, a fifth-grade dropout and lathe operator turned labor leader, abandoned much of the leftist rhetoric of his presidential campaign and adhered to fiscal austerity and market-friendly policies once in office. Elected in 2002, Silva became Brazil's first president from the working class. His administration has been tarnished by corruption scandals linked to the ruling Workers' Party, but Silva still draws strong support from legions of poor who receive monthly government subsidies .

Geraldo Jose Alckmin Filho, 53, challenges Silva from the right as a conservative, pragmatic and business-friendly politician who favors reducing taxes and lowering interest rates to spur economic growth. A fervent Catholic and an anesthesiologist by profession, the soft-spoken, bespectacled Alckmin helped found the Brazilian Social Democracy Party in 1994 and was elected governor of Sao Paulo, Brazil's richest state, in 2002.

E eu cozinhava bem no brasil...

Gente,

Sinceramente, acho q ninguém aki estava preparada pro q estava pra acontecer...

...Desculpa alguma coisa q eu tenha falado,

Carol

...Meninas: Laura, Nessa, Liszy!!! Rapidinho tudo vai melhorar para vcs!!! Pricurem ocupar o tempo!!

lmao :lol::lol:

Beijos!! (F) e se cuidem

sounds like lula is still buying votes :P

I'm sorry to say that he used "his" (as in government) money well :crying: He was reelected...:ranting:

I read a post today stating he has plans to modify our constitution, change his relationship with the press (as in gag)...long story short, more power for the president (can you say dictator? :innocent:).

If you're interested I can PM you a (very) bad translation I made so my fiancé could read it.

Excuse me if someone else already said this, ,but I think unfortunately there is only so far school can take you. I personally think (it's just my .02) that you should go out and find a volunteer position that does not require too much talking on your part (I was serious about the animal thing, but I love animals) and with that, the language will come. You already know Spanish, so for now the only way you're going to learn it is being around it. I know that frustration (your language is not so easy, in case you haven't noticed!) and knowing lots of grammar and how it sounds in a straightforward accent can still leave you completely lost when it comes to actually having conversations.

The only way you'll learn is with training your ear, and the only way to train your ear is to meet lots of people. :)

Estou nervosa e vim fofocar...

Nossa, essas coisas me deixam muito nervosa.

Ai..... to nervosa.:lol: Me dêem uma força lá, se encontrarem alguma coisa pra postar.

OUR COMPLETE TIMELINE

Latest steps:

10/26/2006- Consulate receives case (seriously, one month to receive the case?? BS!), and packet 3 that I sent even before they had received the case.

01/02/2007- Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a 221(g)

01/23/2007- Second Interview. VISA granted!!!

01/29/2007- VISA arrived.... no envelope though. I'm gonna contact them and see what happened this time!

01/31/2007- I'll have to send them one last financial support evidence.

02/01/2007- Evidence sent

02/02/2007- Evidence received by Consulate

02/06/2007- Consulate sends envelope!
