from what i understand, job applications that ask for racial/ethnic information do so only as an "informatinal" tool only. It will not be used to hire/not hire specific candidates. The information is not passed on to hiring mangers. At least that is the theory.

If that is truly the case, then the applicant should answer however he/she feels about such "information" being used. One example on how this information could be used is this: HR could say according to our applicant pool, we are doing a good job of advertising our position to all races/ethicities except X. Thus we need to YYYY (whatever solution they would come up with).

Eu também prefiro ser contratada baseado no fato de que eu posso fazer o trabalho, afinal cor ou origem não influencia nada na sua capacidade de fazer um bom trabalho, etc. Mas eu sou brasileira, se aparece a oportunidade eu aproveito. Eu sei que é bem mais difícil para eu conseguir um emprego aqui do que se eu fosse americana, pois eu tenho limitações.

Eu nunca me enquadrei em quotas no Brasil e nunca fui a favor. Acho que as faculdades que separam vagas baseados em raça está privilegiando essas pessoas.

Eu estou deixando em branco mesmo, já que não sou obrigada a responder.

That doesn't apply to me. Everybody says that networking is everything, how am I possibly supposed to network if there is absolutely no1 I know in the entire country. Charles is not from Kansas, he doesn't know many people here. é outra desvantagem que eu tenho, além de não falar 100% bem o inglês, nunca ter trabalhado aqui, meu histórico escolar não valer bulhufas, é tudo complicado.

Lis, deixei sim, fui na biblioteca imprimir porque a gente não tem impressora e na hora de preencher as job applications tem coisas que complica aí eu coloco ''see resume'' Tipo, college undergraduate stuff, graduate stuff, associates or bachelor degree, stuff like that, in Brazil it doesn't work like that, there is no high school in Brazil, there is no bachelors or associates degree in Brazil, so when it's too complicated to fill in the info when everything works different, I just attach my resume.

keep in mind that positions are rarely filled by unqualified "quota" filling applicant. you will see a lot of unqualified friend/associate/relative being hired.

so, if you apply nd get hired, it was becasue they thought that all of the applicants, you were hired because you were deemed "best fit" for the job/company. whatever that "best fit" may be. it can range from good (best prepared.. or most flexible) to bad9can be hired for cheap!) or whateve r the company is looking for.

Na verdade existe sim... Tudo que eh Bacharel ou Licenciatura no Brasil eh o mesmo que BA ou BS aqui em cima.

E tudo que eh Diploma de Tecnologo (aqueles cursos superiores de 2 anos que comecaram a brotar depois do ano 2000) eh Associate...
