My English fiance lived in York from 1995 to early 2000, Perth (Australia) for most of the year 2000, and then London ever since. While sending away for police certificates from the UK, do we need to get one from York and London each specifically? The ACPO website (http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp) says it provides "police certificates for the purpose of obtaining a visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States of America." So should just one do the job?

Also, while he lived in Perth, he was basically on holiday. He'd saved up a lot of money to travel and backpack for about a year, and wasn't ever employed while he was there. He still needs to get a police certificate from there though, right?

The ACPO will cover all of the UK, however you will need a separate one for Australia. Hope that helps.

His thought was since he wasn't working or paying taxes in Perth, he wouldn't require one, but I said since he was over 16 and there for more than 6 months, we need one. Better safe than sorry!
