Hi everyone,

Im a bit unhappy right now. My case was received at NVC on 7/13/10, and I jsut found out that my fiances address and embassy that will issue his visa are wrong. A week after I filed the petition I contacted USCIS and explained that my fiance was returning to Egypt and I needed to update his address and embassy info. I was told to put my request in writing and send to them, which I did and have delivery confirmation that they received it. Well they never updated it, now NVC told me to do the same thing, I emailed them a letter and copy of his passport yesterday. Called back today and was told its still not updated and could possibly take 2 weeks!!! Then was told that once it is updated they will send a letter to the embassy in Riyadh and request that the case be transfered over to Cairo but they have no guarantees that Riyadh will comply with this.

How do I get my case transferred to the Cairo embassy?

Thanks

my sister was in same situation. they told her do it in writing. she had to call them several time before they changed the address cuz they wasn't able to locate her case file. few weeks later, she called them said, she want to change the add. they did it over the phone. now my brother in law got all the papers in his add. i think these ppl don't do their job right.

When you call back to NVC - ask for a supervisor.

Ask the supervisor to open the casefile from the SAFEFILE system, and have the Embassy and addresses changed there, WITH A REQUEST to move the casefile as well. There may be some issue for the Supervisor to do this, hard to know in advance.

Not many NVC Tele-Operators know about SafeFile, but the Supervisors sure do... (supposedly).

SAFEFILE is the electronic communications net that NVC and All Embassies use to xmit casefiles electronically.

If you can't get it resolved at NVC - try again with the DoS Hotline (# in my profile)

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I just called them again and the tele-operator was having a supervisor look for the email I sent to them yesterday. She has my contact information and said if the manager has any trouble locating it or there are any other issues they will call me today. However, Im not taking their word on that.

Hopefully when i call back tomorrow they will have some good news for me, if not I will do what you suggested.

Thanks!!!

I would definitely keep calling every day for them to get it done and keep track of each of the OP names.

I can't believe they said that Riyadh may not transfer the file. What would happen then??

well about 30 minutes after my initial call I received a call from the supervisor, saying she could not locate my email, so I resent while she was on the phone, 15 minutes later I received a reply from her that it was received and being reviewed. I thought I would give her some time, so like 3 hrs later I called back to see if it was fixed and got the same idiot from earlier. He said the supervisor had just left 6 minutes earlier and to call back tomorrow, but I insisted on speaking to another supervisor. Finally another supervisor came on the phone and said it was being worked on and to call back in the morning. He also stated that since the case is being worked on that it will not leave NVC until it is complete..lets hope he's right. I will be calling back first thing in the AM.

I just received an email from the supervisor that the embassy has been changed...persistence pays off. However I noticed that the case number on the email is different from the one I was originally given. I will call to confirm, but I'm assuming that since it has changed embassy's a new case number has been assigned.

Thanks again for the advice!!
