Does anyone know if there is an alternate number to the NVC other than 603-334-0700? I have been calling ALL morning and all I get is a busy signal!!! Also, do I need to speak with a human to get my case status or can I just get my new case number via automated recording and then plug it in somewhere to get updates ( a la USCIS)?

Thanks!

You can get your case# through the automated system. All you need is your USCIS case#

I don't think there is an alternative number besides the one you got.

I've read somewhere on VJ that for K-1 visas, unfortunately, you need to speak to a live person because it is technically a non-immigrant visa and the automated system doesn't handle them. Maybe this has this changed?

Also, I've seen others advise calling the very first thing in the morning. I think NVC is in the Eastern time zone but I'm not sure what the office hours are.

Keep trying, you'll eventually get through. (And auto-redial is your friend if you have it!)

Good luck!

Since K1 visas are not processed by the NVC, the IVR will not give you your case number. You will need to get in touch with a customer service rep in order to get your case number and also to find out when they mailed it to the embassy. The trick is to call them really early in the morning or late at night, I found that the night crew was a lot nicer than the day crew for some reason. Try calling them again like around 7:30 am, right when they open or after 11-11:30 pm, and you'll get right through.

Melgar, try calling the DOS instead. They can help you. 202-633-1225 (Option 4 for immigrant visas, then press 0 for an operator so you can skip most of the recorded stuff).

Hope that helps!

When I called today (several times in fact) I didn't get a busy signal, ever!

I could hardly believe it, I called throughout the day too, so it must have been a slow day at the NVC today maybe?
