Hi, everyone. My fiance received his packet from the U.S. embassy and they are requiring for him to submit police records. We met while we both lived in Canada. My fiance is from Ireland so we have no problem obtaining those documents but we're unsure on how to obtain a police record from another country. Has anybody had a similar experience? Should we contact the Canadian embassy in Ireland or does he need to ring/write the nearest police station in Toronto.

Does anybody know?

S.

Go to this website, it gives the procedures for obtaining police certificates for most countries. Most of them have instructions for obtaining them when out of country also.

Make sure you know long the certificate is valid for... you don't need the hassle of getting one only to find out that it expires when you need it for packet 3...

He already has his packet 3.

So, I guess they should check how long they're good for in case the interview takes long to be scheduled.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Most major banks can give you a money order in foriegn currencies. You probably will have to have an account there though.

My fiancee tried getting Money order in Australian dollars and was told they could do it but had to have an account there.

Did she need to have an account at the bank in the U.S. or she needed to have a bank account in Australia? I'm a bit confused. :D

1.) Have her go to her local bank - the one where she does her banking.

2.) Ask for a money order in Canadian dollars for the amount needed.
