hi

i have a question concerning work/travel while the I-129f is being processed.

once i file the I-129f send it in...etc. is it possible for me to go work somewhere else (another town)while this is all being processed and hopefully approved.?

or do i have to be at the address put on the forms to receive papers etc.?

my situation is....i have to go work in another city (other than address stated on forms).....after the initial filing, do they continue to send things in the mail to me, that i need to recieve and send back to them? or is everything just forwarded between the California service center and the National VIsa Center?

are all approvals done electronically or by mail?

i know i need to send my fiance the I-134 etc.

are you moving? or this is a transitional address while you work in that city?

if you are not moving then no need to change address [my suggestion]

you will receive the NOA1 - NOA2 and if you are not moving the change in address can always screw something up.. I am skeptical with the changes in the middle of the process. But if you are moving, then is a different story

By the way, mail is typically sent first class and no need for signature

I got my NOA1 while out for 2 months, my mother pick up the mail for me :) You don't need to be there if someone will be picking up the mail for you, if you are just out of town for some time.

I was in a similar situation. I had my mail forwarded to another address (in this case, my parents house) and everything worked out okay.

When I sent in my I-129F paperwork, I didn't hear anything for a while. I called the office handling the case, they told me that the application was received and they were processing it, but when they tried to send the NOAA 1 to the mailing address I gave them, it came back as undeliverable.

I've had this problem before, with some mail getting through and some not getting through. So I asked them to change my mailing address to my parents house, and after a rather formal confirmation this was accepted. I imagine they were reading from flashcards or notes, but the entire experience was pleasant. They will give you a confirmation number; write it down just in case it's needed for some reason. It wasn't in my case.

Also, here is something else I did and it should help you with your situation. When you get your NOAA 1 (or when you call them because you haven't received one yet) you can find out your case number. On the USCIS website (www.uscis.gov), on the left hand side under "After I File" you can check your case status and sign up for case updates. Checking your status lets you do it online, but if you sign up for case updates then you can be notified by email and/or text message when there is a change.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out via email that my I-129F had been approved. It was truly special because I made a trip out to Norway to see Merete at the time and we were able to read the email together; the paper copy came in the mail (to my parents house) a few days later and I picked it up once I was back in the US.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter where you reside in the US. USCIS will send your NOA1 and NOA2 to whatever address they have on file while your I-129f is pending. Once your I-129f is approved, you will receive your NOA2 which will tell you whether or not your petition has been approved. USCIS will automatically forward your packet to the NVC which will, in turn, submit your packet to Lima, Peru. The Embassy in Lima will notify you with instructions for preparing for your interview with the Embassy.

Hope this answers your question :)

For the NOA1 and NOA2, I would say no, you don't need to be there to receive them. I'm in a similar situation but for a different reason. I've been away for close to a month with the P.O. holding my mail until my return. I haven't seen any action regarding my case on the USCIS website but now I'm starting to wonder if I've received an RFE while I've been away. (Others with my NOA1 date are receiving NOA2s like crazy right now...) The problem with RFEs is that they have a deadline to respond.

Do you have someone receiving your mail while you're away? If so, they can relay any info to you regarding an RFE. You still may have to return rather quickly to respond but at least you would know about it.

Once you receive your NOA2, NVC will forward everything to the embassy. You only need to send certain things (I-134, original documents, etc.) to your fiancee for the interview.

Good luck!
