Hoping for a bit of feedback on this.

In May, my hubby requested thru his senator's immigration liaison an expedite for my I-130 (due to an impending deployment) - we were approved and as of today, my file is at the NVC, all fees are paid. Due to a screw up by our immigration attorney, my son (from a previous marriage) didn't get an I-130 filed with mine so we had to do it ourselves.

Based on the fact that we had already been approved AND on the fact that my son is a minor, the senator's liaison requested an expedite for my son's I-130 on the 17th of June. When MY I-130 was expedited, it only took 3 business days to be approved. As of today, we are going on the 5th business day and still no word - so what I'm wondering is, what's the "norm" to hear back in regards to an expedite request?

Why not call the USCIS Military hotline and inquire? They should be able to tell you what's in the system. I hope you get this expedite completed soon.

did you submit the new I-130 for the child , in a similar fashion to http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/255138-k3-k4-visa-converted-to-cr-1-by-national-visa-center/page__p__3918125#entry3918125

A Immigration Liason Staffer can be useful, but only after the petition is received at USCIS.

IMO, getting into the expedite queue can be done 'by self', if follow http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/255138-k3-k4-visa-converted-to-cr-1-by-national-visa-center/page__p__3918125#entry3918125

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hey Darnell.

Yes, my husband sent in a stand alone I-130 to the Chicago lockbox for my son (not the USC biological son) and it was recieved on June 14, the NOA 1 has been issued. Since the senator's liaison successfully handled the expedite for my I-130, my hubby thought it best to just ask them (via email) to also request an expedite for my son's I-130. The liaison emailed my hubby on the 17th to say they touched base with USCIS to request the expedite and that's all we've heard so far.

When we check online, there was a "touch" on the 16th but nothing further.

The reason I asked was because for MY I-130, the request was sent in on a Monday and by Wed evening we were approved.

ok - was any request for expedite in the cover letter, and the I-130 prepped up for expedite, in a similar fashion to http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/255138-k3-k4-visa-converted-to-cr-1-by-national-visa-center/page__p__3918125#entry3918125 prior to submittal ?

To be honest - I know my hubby attached a cover letter but I am not sure whether or not he eluded to the expedite on that cover letter.

And now he's deployed so I only get sporadic communication with him. The senator liasion emailed and said the following:

Hello XXXX,

I’m writing to let you know that we have reached out to the USCIS regarding the expedite request for your stepson’s petition and we will let you and your wife know as soon as we receive a response from them. If the expedite request is successful, the NVC will contact you when they have received your son’s petition. Please let us know when the NVC has received his petition and we will then proceed to request an expedite again at the NVC. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with in the interim.

Thank you,

Constituent Services Intern

Office of US Senator Maria Cantwell

And that's it so far....

OK . if using the expedite process that I referenced, actually get 'more speed' - but

The Immigration Liason Staffer, now must wait until you have USCIS receipt notice (NOA-1 ) as he/she needs the USCIS receipt #, before anything else can be done.

Hang in there !! Wait a bit, it should show up, soonish (The NOA-1 letter )

We got the NOA 1 file number from the back of the check and passed along the WAC number to the staffer on Thurs, June 17. (The actual NOA 1 letter came in the mail on the 21st.) She (the staffer), contacted USCIS the same day (June 17th) and sent us the email above.

We (my hubby and I) were just a bit concerned because, as I mentioned, the expedite for my I-130 was submitted on a Monday and approved on a Wed, that's a turn around of only 3 business days. Counting today, it has already been 4 business days for my son's expedite request with no response from USCIS (so far)

Sorry if I'm confusing you, I'm a bit tired lol.
