Well yesterday was the most fustrating day ever. I went full prepared but not for what they had to say. First everone got a blueslip yesterday they were not taking the police record everyone had to go get a new on which met we had to leave there and go to pay for a new and then go and stand in a line for 5 hours in the hot sun no less to apply for something that we already have. ALL because of dudus. Then I was laid off part of 2009 and they said i need a joint sponsor I was so pissed cause I called the NVC and asked more than once the CO said that is JA rule even thought I make more than enough. Is that a semi apprval or what?

The I-864 is evaluated at the consulate level so technically the CO can ask for a joint sponsor if he/she feels that it is a borderline case. They don't go by 'minimum requirements' but rather, the 'totality of circumstances.'

Presumably, once you turn in the new PCC and the joint sponsor's documents, your visa will be issued.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, they should have called everyone and told them about the new changes, We also have a blueslip but I called and reschedule because it takes a month to get another appointment,so if you know your going to be able to get a co-sponsor soon, call and reschedule now because you'll most likely get a blue slip interview in Aug, but I'm going to have my husband go down and get another police record just in case they come with some more bs. Everything will work out in due time... Happy that's all you need..

This process tests your patience, faith, and commitment. Hang in there . . . your journey will come to a 'positive' end soon!

Question: Were you able to get the police certificate the same day, or are you required to return in three days?

One would think since they made this last minute change, they would excuse the three day waiting period and allow people to get their certificates the same day, WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY ADDITIONAL FEES.

LOL, D&G, we are talking about Jamaica here, and it's the US embassy v. the Jamaican police - they aren't going to pass up the opportunity to make more money by giving away free police reports!

Sorry, Bajan - but I would look at this as a semi approval, not an issue - Is there someone you can get as a joint sponsor?

I'm sorry that you had to go through all that drama. Was your husband interviewed? I don't know why the US is making every one suffer for a fugitive. Not all Jamaicans are criminals!!!! What if you didn't have the money to pay for another police record? Just know that delayed does not mean denied. Keep the faith.

My sister said when she was passing by there she saw a long line and thought it was a big job opportunity to go to foreign  and I was telling her no it was because everybody got denied due to the date on the Police record date.

Oh, I know they aren't going to give free police reports, I was simply stating the right/fair thing to do is to waive the additional fee charged for receiving the certificate the same day. But you're 100% correct, they're not going to pass up the opportunity to make more money. I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part :innocent:

Completely agree with you that is should be waived, Wishful thinking is great, unfortunately we can't make it a reality! I just see many screw ups coming out of this new requirement, since they obviously haven't notified people.

Exactly! I am so thankful to MaryLan&Na for posting the information. I informed my husband last night that he would have to make a THIRD trip to Kingston (from MoBay) to obtain another certificate, although the one he has is less than one month old! He is very easy going, so he did not make a big deal of it. I, on the other hand, fussed for 30 minutes of our 35 minute conversation.
