03/23/2010: Case completed.
05/12/2010: CR-1 interview at Mumbai, India.
05/20/2010: US Entry, Chicago.
03/01/2012: ROC NOA1.
03/26/2012: Biometrics completed.
12/07/2012: 10 year card production ordered.

09/25/2013: N-400 NOA1

10/16/2013: Biometrics completed

12/03/2013: Interview

The welcome letter is sent to people after their AOS (I-485) is approved. Not for POE.

I believe it is -- saying that 'card production has been ordered.'

The welcome letter is sent to people after their AOS (I-485) is approved. Not for POE.

Please be aware that other visas exist. Such as Cr-1 which is issued a greencard on entry into the US. There is no AOS for a CR-1/IR-1 visa holder. As stated, they will be sent their welcome letter not long after arrival and will get the greencard in the mail sometime thereafter WITHOUT filing AOS because it's not needed for them.

New Post and posts answering same have been split from a 3 year old topic in the AOS forum and moved to the CR-1 forum as the OP's wife in not doing AOS but receiving a green card after activating a CR-1 visa.

I was told that I should call USCIS if 30 days have passed since POE and they will look into the matter but they can't do anything before 30 days is over.

That is what I was told at my POE as well. I did, however, receive my welcome letter two weeks after POE and the green card two weeks later making it a month after POE.

I called the USCIS customer representative # since it's been more than 30 days since POE. I got through in a couple of minutes, actually. They wanted my A# and then said I wasn't 'in the system yet.' So I called Chicago O'Hare CBP. Fat load of help they were. "Airports are busy." Uh, thanks for telling me something I already know.

I also applied for my SS card to be updated to an unrestricted one on 6/4. I called on Friday since it's been 14 days and they said that the DHS verification/clearance takes several days which worries me because if I'm not in the system yet, then how are they going to get the required clearance to issue my new card?

Thankfully, I'll be able to join my new job this Friday since the visa/I551 stamp and SSN is enough for my employer.
