Chennai interview reschedule

I just emailed the Chennai consulate today asking for a new date for the immigration visa interview for my wife. I was wondering if anyone else has done the same. Mainly I was hoping someone could give some idea on how much later the new interview date might be? The reason I had to reschedule is because my wifes passport is at the passport office in Vizag waiting to be stamped with the PCC, yesterday they told us it would take another 25 days which is beyond our visa interview date, how frustrating.

I have read several cases here how people easily rescheduled their interview in Chennai, but those people requested dates, or a range of dates (like, after a certain date). Did you explain in the letter about what the Vizag office said? Obviously, you don't know the exact date the passport will come back so you can't tell the Consulate an exact date. :(

Boy, times sure have changed (for the worse)! My husband got his passport back from the Vizag passport office within 24 hours, in 2007!

Can you explain your situation to the passport office and perhaps they can put priority to it. In Punjab, we get most things done by speaking with the head officer and pay little fee for the exception ! Try and see...good luck...

That's a long time

Based on your timeline, your interview date is on June 28. Remember you are in  India a little handshake  can go a long way for an experdite service.

Even here in the states If you need your passport quickly here you have to pay extra, the only thing it's all legit and

the govt get something from it for the urgency, other places it's not as uniform.

Thanks for all the helpful comments. The Chennai consulate has been pretty helpful 2 hours after I sent the email requesting a new interview date they had emailed the new date which is on July 22 so a little less than a month later, which isn't bad. As far as the PCC is concerned we have tried the "expedited" service route and did get some action on the part of the government officers. Even with the extra money they said it would take at least 10+ days. We are now going to our local SP to give some incentive to them to hurry up the process. My wifes cousin works for the police and has friends at the SP office so hopefully that can get things rolling a little faster.

Just wondering if they will send interview appointment letter to USC spouse if we make USC as choice of agent..

Also notice..you have too good a timeline.. NOA2 within 9 days!
