I have a Christmas Day flight booked! :) My husband and I will drive down to NC a couple of days before Christmas to see his family, and then he'll drop me at the airport in Raleigh on Christmas morning for a flight to Buffalo. He'll drive up after Boxing Day to spend the remainder of the week in Canada, and then we'll drive back home together. Hopefully, the weather cooperates with this plan. lol

awe that sounds great. I wish we could have gone back to Canada for Christmas but we Just can't do it this year. have yourself some happy Holidays :)

How nice! We may pass you on the road. For us it's Christmas Eve and Christmas morning in Niagara then up the QEW Christmas day to Pearson to pick up my step-son then off to MIL for Christmas dinner. Fingers crossed for no flight delays! :)

We're going to Canada for Christmas too! I can't believe it's almost been a whole year since I've been to Canada. Life get so busy and time flies by so fast!

I've flown on Christmas Day several times in the last few years, because you always get great deals. We're flying into Buffalo Christmas Eve, and I almost had a heart attack when I saw how expensive the tickets were. I guess It's only Christmas once a year...

so I just bought a laptop for my FIL.. he gave us the money for it and I bought it online.. I didn't really put as much research into it as I would if buying it for myself but they were having a good sale on one at Tigerdirect and the sale only lasted to 12 midnight EST.. it was $400 for a refurbished 17.3 inch Acer with 3GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard Drive.. I hope I got a decent one...

here is an Acer from newegg.com I have bought a lot of stuff from newegg, always great service and fast delivery!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Check out the new Ecole Jean-Vanier across from Walmart and you won't recognize Niagara College. Tons of changes there...and who says Welland is boring .

yeah the one from Newegg is definitely better performance wise.. but it is just for our FIL.. he isn't into gaming and stuff like that...lol we have an Acer 11.6 inch with only 2 GB of RAM and 250 GB hard Drive and it runs pretty good...

I would rather spend the money we saved on a printer for him... I found an awesome deal for one at Walmart.. it is an HP all in one for 30 bucks

LOVE my nook - enjoy!

Did you get the basic one? I am starting to covet the new color Nook but my old one still has a lot of life in it. So unless it has an unfortunately Metro accident I guess I am stuck with it for a bit longer :D

Is that what they were building over there? They were just breaking ground when I was home last, crazy! That school was pretty run down though. And Niagara College too? I haven't been there in probably 2 years now. And growing up we always said Welland was the most boring place on earth... How wrong were we?!

I'm excited to get some Tim Hortons again. It's been too long...

We were there over American Thanksgiving and I couldn't believe the change in just a month. I believe the students are already attending Jean-Vanier..where does the time go?

We hit Tim Hortons more than a few times and made our last stop at the duty free one prior to crossing at the Peace Bridge heading home. Did you know they DO NOT sell dutchies there? :o My husband was mortified..that's his favourite Tim Hortons treat.
