Congratulations, Bern! The nice thing about having babies at a young age is that you will still be really young when they are grown up and gone. It's like you get to live a second life! And everyone will think you're their sister. lol

((((((Hugs)))))))) to Ontarkie and KimBear.

yeah that was my mom.. she had me when she was around 20 and when I got older some people thought we were sisters... as for the second life thing , my mom went and had 3 more kids after the age of 38 ...:P

Having my son at 18 he has been asked too many times if I was his girlfriend, i think he would prefer the sister comment better.

And don't forget our discussions about friends who seem to be stuck in their teens. Tis better to grow up too fast, than not to grow up at all. laughing.gif

Having kids at a young age made me grow up really fast! It was like a crash course in maturity. lol. And I learned patience. Lots and lots of patience. lol. I also worked a full time job and went to nightschool in the evenings and on weekends. Like Sprailenes says.... it's hard work, but it can be done. Looking back, I wouldn't have done it any other way. And, besides..... it turns out that, if I hadn't had my children when I did, I wouldn't have been able to have any at all. Unforseen future and all that jazz. When you bemoan your current situation you are doing so not knowing what fate had in store for you had it gone another way. We are oblivious to our future and/or what unknowns we have been saved from. The glass is half full.

yeah that was my mom.. she had me when she was around 20 and when I got older some people thought we were sisters... as for the second life thing , my mom went and had 3 more kids after the age of 38 ...tongue.gif

Wow. I guess she really missed it! lol

Which leads me to my vent. lol We've been married for less than 5 months.. and frankly as far as I'm concerned, didn't even get to have a real wedding.. and I don't have a job! And my husband doesn't even have a job! And we've only known each other 2 years anyways... AND there's about a billion things I want to do in life before having a baby, not to mention TRY to enjoy being married (which, honestly, has been hard to do in our current financial situation)... I don't care that I'm 29 yrs old and my clock is ticking. Just because I'm married, doesn't mean a baby is arriving ASAP, if AT ALL for that matter. GAWD I HATE THAT STEREOTYPE.... ok done.

OMG I get this all the time. Every time I post something on Facebook that might even HINT that there is a change happening, people ask if we're having a baby. For example, one time I said that I was "excited", people started asking why, and when I said I wanted to keep it quiet in case it didn't work out (job interview), it was like 'ooooh, baby??' When people catch up with you that you haven't spoken to in years and find out you've recently got married, the first thing they want to know is when you're having children.

I moved to America and got married within the past year, isn't that enough to keep you all quiet?

This happens even though I post often to whine that I don't have a job and that we want to get our own place. Do they really think I'm going to bring a baby into this mess? Then again, most of the girls from school are single mothers living on welfare, so they probably think it's no big deal. Wow that sounded bitchy.

Next step after you purchase the entire Apple product line is to move into a loft in a crappy neighborhood and tell all your friends that it's soooooooo much better, that your neighborhood has a soul.

Are you farting a lot too? ;)

Farting, burping, itching, swelling, forgetting...

Unfotunately i think it's possibly too late. i'm going to be 37 this winter, and we can't seem to get pregnant still. We have been trying over a year:( Soon as we have a few bucks we are going to go to the doctor and see if theres a reason why or not.

Hey Kimbear, don't lose hope and keep on trying! I'm 35 and by my probability calculation, I thought it would be a year of active trying before I would get pregnant. Apparently it's common for ladies our age, but for sure try fertility treatments when you get a chance.

Yes, it's definitely one of those days. ((((((hugs))))))

Don't wait for "some day". Start taking online classes and/or nightschool. If you chip away at it slowly it'll get done. Then one day you'll suddenly realize you have a degree. If you postpone it you will find yourself a few years down the road and no further ahead. Trust me on this.

@ Bern, this is SOLID advice! I dropped out of college/university...TWICE! I was so disappointed in myself. Went to work full-time, and attended night school. Seven years later, I got my degree. :-)

My parents had my brother and I before 25, and they're glad they did.

They're in their mid 40s and totally loving life.

I don't know if I'm an arsehole for this one, but here goes.....

About 4 months ago, I donated blood. I have a severe phobia of needles and this was my attempt to conquer my fears. A big as$ needle stuck in my arm for 12 minutes 42 seconds (yes, yes I did count) was enough for me. I now get emails and calls at a minimum of 3 times a week asking me to donate blood. I have one of the more rare blood types, so I understand they are in need. I get upset though because I've told them about my phobia and that it really shook me when I did it. I don't think I could handle doing it more than once a year. Am I being selfish? I have tried dealing with my phobia with counseling, and tried to just face it, but neither has really done anything to remedy the situation.

I have a phobia as well and recently I've started fainting when giving blood, even at the drs, if its over 1 tube. The Blood donor people seemed really pushy in asking me all the time. I know they need it but it got annoying, so I pretended I was someone else and told them I'd moved.

As for the babies thing, all my friends are like that too. They get married and pop out a kid right away. I have NOTHING against people who do this if you are semi ready financially and emotionally but my husband and I didn't get to live together before marriage, and I just moved a bazillion miles away, I'd like to get use to him and us annoying each other before we add a little one to that equation. Plus I'm still one of the young ones, I just turned 25. If we have are married for 4 years before we decide its time to go ahead and start trying I will only be 29, which still isnt bad. My FIL is hilarious though because our immediate families are like "No babies!......yet" cuz they want us to be together for awhile first and get over the debt of moving. But every once and while hes like, so darned excited about the idea of a little Wes or a little girl to dress up and spoil, stealing the grandkids for the weekend. Hes going to be amazing as a grandfather. Wes's mom.....won't get to spend time with the kids without one of us there.

I'm gonna skip right over the TMI sex story, though it is hilarious.... LOL Sorry Reven...

But here's my vent, related to all the baby talk happening. So, today I did this tweet (which referenced a recent job interview that my husband had, and me getting EAD, and AP, and expecting AOS shortly): "This week and month could bring some interesting things for Dan and I. Hopefully the first one is a job for him. *waiting*" and a friend of mine from London DMs me saying "What's the other interesting thing...a small last name as well??" so then I says "Hell F'ing NO, and don't ever say that again.".

Which leads me to my vent. lol We've been married for less than 5 months.. and frankly as far as I'm concerned, didn't even get to have a real wedding.. and I don't have a job! And my husband doesn't even have a job! And we've only known each other 2 years anyways... Ashen,

Here's a funny story that happened to me because of that stereotype.

About a year about Joe and I were married I applied for a job as office manager at a local heritage site where I was a volunteer. The interview went fairly well until I discovered they weren't paying the same amount as they were paying their current assistant. As I was not willing to do the job for minimum wage, after the interview with the 3 woman committee I called up the Director and said I would be withdrawing my application. She said, oh that wouldn't be a problem because they had already decided that even though I was the best applicant for the job they felt reluctant to give me the job because "after all, you are a new bride and you will probably be having a baby very soon and you will most likely want to leave the job to stay at home and be a mother"! Now, the really funny part of this? I was 51 years old at the time (my birthdate was on the application form) - and was just finishing menopause.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
