CFO - Proof of singleness - solution

I did alot of searching through the forums, and alot of calling before I came to this realization.

CFO in Cebu is apparantly notorious for requesting proof of "singleness" from US petitioners before they will provide the foreign fiance(e) with the required seminar/certificate. As there is no "Cenomar" as there is in Philippines (and my Filipino fiancee was told a Cenomar would not be accepted for me, since I never lived there), it looked as if we were out of luck, but alas I found it.

I called my State Dept. of Health and they informed me of the Single Status Affidavit. Bascially they search the databases, and check with the Secretary of State, to certify that your are, indeed, single. Then they manufacture some special document, that is specific to the country you are acquiring it for (forget what they called it) and they attach it to the Affidavit and mail it to you (in about a week).

That came as some relief. Just hope all goes well from here...

scan it when you get it, so maybe we can just edit our name into the field. such a stupid request after the k1 has already been approved.

yeah, I'll definatly scan it when it arrives.

My fiancee suggested we wait until after the K-1 is approved, but from reading these forums, the CFO will still need proof of singleness from me, as a K-1 approved Visa is not enough for them. So, I figured best to get everything we can now. Good thing too, it appears.

Well, it turns out the CFO accepted a scanned copy of my 2009 tax return (I just emailed it to my finacee) as evidence that I am single. I guess it was simpler than I made it out to be, or we got lucky...

No CFO in manila is not that way. I have read where most people just do the CFO in manila when they do the medical then get the stamp in cebu after they get the visa. That is the way around dealing with that. CFO is stupid & a waste of time & money. Mhay did hers at PRISM after her interview.

Hmm, didnt know you could do the CFO in manila and get the sticker in Cebu. that would make things so much easier.

Also, you can complete the CFO seminar in Manila and get the CFO sticker in Manila.

Or, you can complete the CFO seminar in Quezon City and get the CFO sticker in Quezon City. If you complete the CFO seminar in Quezon City, you can get the CFO sticker in the same building.

St. Mary's (SMEF-COW) in Katipunan, Quezon City ROCKS. Not as complex as the CFO in Manila (or so I have heard). You can fulfill the guidance counseling requirement AND get the CFO sticker the same day (as long as you have your visa in hand). If you don't have the visa yet, you can attend the guidance counseling in advance and return to get your CFO sticker).
