Upcoming Vancouver Interview

OK, so my interview is in less than 2 weeks. Nervous? Yes, slightly :) I'm trying to get everything in order and although I've checked the list on the Vancouver Consulate link on VJ, I can't figure out in what order I should put some of my forms (some forms/items aren't listed on the preferred order list). I think what I'll do is put my package together with a cover letter and order my forms like this:

- Cover Letter

- Letters of intent

- DS-230 (there was no note of where this should go, so I've placed it here...)

- Passport + copy of info page

- 2 Bank deposit slips showing fee deposit made

- 2 passport photos with name on back

- 2 copies DS-156

- 2 copies DS-156K

- Original long form birth ccertificate + copy

- My original divorce decree + copy

- My partner's original divorce decree + copy

- My police certificates + copies

- Affadavit of Support + supporting docs

- My medical results

How does this look? Am I missing anything? Any tips I should know? Wow, I'm surprised at how nervous I am!

Thanks very much for any advice!!

I am going through the same thing. I have been trying to organize everything for my interview on the 17th and I wish they told us where to put everything. So what I basically did is just used the checklist as my guide. I mean when we get up to the window they will tell us what order we need it in and it is not like it is a super big rush. So I figure I would just order it like that and see what they say there :)

You may, or may not, need a copy of the USC's birth certificate, there is a thread that discusses it here:

On that thread it says that you do not require it. Also I was wondering about this as well I emailed the Vancouver consulate and asked if I needed this. They told me no since they already had a copy with of that in our petition

Hey MeggyMo - Thanks for the info! Did you happen to notice on their website that it says all non-immigrant visa applications require a DS-160. It wasn't on my K1 checklist so I've asked the Consultate if I need to complete it.

Also, now that the new fee has been implemented,do you know if we need to pay that? My interview is the after the 4th, but I've already paid the $131 fee. I've sent the Consulate an email about this asking if I'll need to pay an additonal fee.

Hey not a problem. No I did not notice this. They said you needed the DS-160 on the Vancouver consulate website?

I did not complete this form as it was not on the checklist and I was told just to follow that list specifically. BUT when you find out if we need it or not I would greatly appreciate you letting me know :).

Ahhh yes the new fee. I have spoken to the consulate about this as well and sadly yes if your interview is after the fourth than you need to make the extra 219 USD deposit to the Scotia Bank. It sucks I know since we just missed the cut off but it has to be done.

I was just looking at the form and what the hell is up with that electronic picture!? Do I just add a picture I had taken of myself like I dont have a good camera. UGH this is frustrating me now. I really hope they don't require the DS-160 form.

This is the link to where it says the DS-160 is required. But like I said, I sent an email to the consulate so hopefully will hear back tomorrow or Tuesday.

For the additional $219, I printed out the deposit slips, whited out the $131 and wrote in $219 as the deposit amount. Think that's ok?

Yea I read that link. UGH I really hope we don't have to. The uploading of the picture is what is confusing me. I can fill out the form no problem just that picture thing.

Hmm well from what I have read the government does not particularly care for white out. Ummm I am sure it should be fine though since they don't have the new fee on the slips.

My link

at the bottom of that page it shows how the documents should be arranged. So that answers your first question BUT it has not been updated in a few months so I am not sure if it has changed.

But I am going to use that as my model and go from there

Also it says NOTHING about the DS-160 confirmation page you are supposed to print out after completing the online form. So I guess we just wait to find out the answer from the consulate
