What does the RFE ask for/say?

it asked for proof of us meeting within the last two years so I was like okay the pictures and letters weren't good enough?

IMO your lawyer is not worth a grain of salt. Photos are secondary evidence that is submitted to support primary evidence such as boarding passes, passport stamps, rental receipts if lived together etc etc. Any evidence from an outside source that puts you in the same place at the same time. Letters are relationship evidence not evidence of having met within the required two year period. I'm not surprised at all that you got an RFE. I'm sorry that happened to you because of your lawyer not knowing the process.

Do you have boarding passes, passport stamps eg. Also think outside the box of what you may have that can prove your meeting. Has your fiance been to the US and had you made any contact with anyone about upcoming wedding etc.? Have you ever both been invited together to a wedding etc? That is what I mean about thinking outside the box.

Can you give us a rundown on the times you were together, where and how?

You can fire your attorney at any time. As they wont be taking you through to completion, if that's what you paid for, then they should I imagine give you a refund of some kind.

Your deployment orders showing arrival and departure dates would be helpful...showing a definite window of when you were there in Korea by order of the military. I'd say that would be a very helpful piece of evidence that you could submit along with the other stuff that's been discussed. Layer that with receipts and other items from things you did together....you should have a solid case.

Hey are orders to korea and orders from korea to hawaii good enough for proof of meeting and then also have her passport stamp showing she was there too?

This is exactly the type of evidence I was referring to when thinking outside the box  As gcox said, accompany this with other bits of evidence suggested and you should have a strong case.

Your orders are a slam dunk. I submitted mine with my petition. My friend also did and they told him they basically didn't need too much else after seeing those. His case was approved.

I even submitted a copy of my decoration that includes the dates I was there.

Back to the issue...

Find out what you (your lawyer/USC etc.) have sent to USCIS already. Here is the small advice... if you want to tell a story of your love, how would you like to present it? What evidence would you like to show them (USCIS).

I would do the following if I were you:

- Boarding passes (both of you)

- Passport pages with stamps (both of you)

- Hotel/Motel Receipt (both of your names registered at the hotel if possible)

- Restaurant receipts, bus passes, train passes

- Shopping receipts

- Credit Card reciepts

- PHOTOS: in your case, I would send in at least 10 photos of you two together EVERYWHERE in Korea, given you do have photos of the two of you together.

- Emails/postmail prior and after the trip/meeting in Korea: showing them you two MET and continue to grow the new found love and relationship

That's it! At this stage, you and your USC must show the USCIS that you did meet each other at least ONCE in the past 2 years. That is one of the major key decision for approval.

Good luck and get busy! About the lawyer, see if you can get the money back! I don't think K-1 visa is that hard to hire a lawyer... Unless you have a criminal background in the the country or countries you've been living in for sometimes... Then it depends on the level of complexity of your case, I would say try doing this without help from a lawyer and lot of assistant from VJ :D Good luck!

edited to add: ah, look... my first heart earned with this post... I'm spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME on this board....

Someone spends too much time in OT!

You wouldn't happen to have a frequent flyer card, would you? If you used, or had miles credited toward, your account when you met, the statements could help support that. Here's an extract of part of my cover letter outlining what I sent as proof of relationship. Never received an RFE. We also each submitted letters of intent and I asked my pastor to write a letter vouching for our relationship as well...

o E-mail to British news station in response to an on-line request for stories about overseas love

o Phone card calling history

o Northwest Airlines WorldPerks Account Summary

o Trip Summary & Receipt for David's Trip in May 2006

o MerkurBergBahn Tram Ticket dated the day we met, August 30, 2006

o Wal-Mart Receipt dated February 18, 2006, during my second trip

o Northwest Airlines E-Ticket Receipts for my third trip in March 2006 with my children

o Copies of passport pages for Jen and children

o Personal hand-written letter from David to Jen dated 08-31-05 (the day after we met) and postmarked the following day, 09-01-05

o Photographs from all three of Jen's visits to Germany, labeled on the reverse of each photo, including photos of Jen standing in the same place during different seasons

That's quite a list. J & I didn't have a ton - one set of air tickets from our vacay together, passport stamps, pics from Paris, Mexico, Croatia, UK together. I think my student visa stamp in my passport helped a ton though. And it's not like UK has high visa fraud ( wouldn't think)...

Very good idea about the seasons, smarty pants!
