K-1 Visa Approved.....When does it expires?

How long is the K-1 Visa good for after approval (Australia - US)? I was under the impression that the beneficiary has up to 4 months from the time the K-1 Visa is approved to travel to the US? Can anyone confirm with reference to the USCIS website please?

P.S. My fiancee had had her interview just hours ago in Sydney (Approved!!! YAY!!!) but was told that she has to travel to the US within 6 months after NOA1. <<<scratching head....whaaat??!!?>>>

30Apr2010 Medical results

01May2010 "L" Sent DS-1076 form + entire packet "ready for interview" to Sydney Consulate

10May2010 "Packet 4" received from Sydney Consulate (via email only)

25May2010 Interview

01Jun2010 Visa Received In-hand

28Jul2010 PoE San Francisco, California

02Aug2010 Tied the knot!!

Hi,

It is valid 6 months from the issuance date (except for specific cases)

The expiration date will be written the Visa.

according to the US embassy in Camberra (http://canberra.usembassy.gov/iv_faqs.html):

How soon can I travel once the visa is issued?

Immigrant and fiancé(e) visas are valid only for 6 months. Therefore, you must enter the U.S. with your visa within 6 months of its issuance. In some cases, visas can be limited to expire before the 6-month period. In this instance, you are required to enter the U.S. before the expiry date of your visa.
