I agree with Diana and Mavi. Honesty at the interview is the only sensible option. However, don't offer more information than exactly what is asked for. No need to explain more than what they need. ;)

Lorena and the boys received their (2 year) "green cards" today. Sooooo.... in a year or so, we get to send USCIS even MORE money.... but at least we are past one of the biggest hurdles.

Welcome to the U.S. for real mi esposa preciosa. (L)

It seems our Colombia forum has been a little slow lately. So I guess it is a good occasion to let everyone know that I am on my way to Bogota. Next week is THE week. I have checked and re-checked all the papers I am bringing with me and it seems I am as ready as I'll ever be.

So hopefully I'll be posting good news in about a week...

Juan Carlos.

What are the fees for the 10 year card? Anyone know? Hoping I was done paying!

There is no end, Corey. The fee is the same for 2 years as it is for 10 ($1,010) and the time only depends on how long you've been married. We missed the date by three weeks, so we get to pay another $500+ in less than two years. (Actually, USCIS missed the cutoff.... to their advantage, of course.)

This is crazy, I really didn't know we had to pay again. This is crazy!!! I better start saving now, will have to pay for my wife and son. Maybe the goverment could give us a bail-out too! Feel like crying. I thought we only had to send in a paper then gave us when the 2 year card was approved and then a 10 year card would be issued. I better start reading visajourny other forums and get on track.

No, I think you're getting confused.

If you're just filing for AOS after being married for 2 years you will have to pay the same fee, $1,010 to get the 10 year card.

If you already went through AOS and already got the 2 year green card, then two years later you have to file form I-751 to Remove Conditions in order to get the 10 year card. That one has a filing fee of $465 for processing and $80 for biometrics, $545 total.

That's correct. Here are the instructions:

Note on Filing Fee:

Base petition fee plus $80 biometric services fee for all conditional resident applicants. Each conditional resident child listed under Part 5 of this form who is a dependent seeking to remove their conditional status, is required to submit an additional biometric services fee of $80, regardless of age.

Hello Colombia Club!

It's been a while since I have visited here. Monica is still active in the Spanish forum.

Can you imagine that it has been a full year since my love arrived here in the California?

September 16 was when she completed her full year in the US.

She has her Green Card back in May/2008, she has her driver's license, she got a job, she has her car and we'll be soon in a new house!

Also, my in-laws are visiting us for a few weeks. Everyone is so happy. After 54 years of marriage, this is the first time they traveled outside the country together.

Here is a pic by the Golden Gate Bridge-
