I know we still have a way to go, but I want to get everyting in order early...

So, I was wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to take our wedding rings to our interview (k-1). We got them a few months ago and they are inscribed with each other's names. We have been wearing them to stay close to each other, but we still have the box they came in. I was thinking to get them polished up to look brand new, and put them back in the box, and I will put my engagement ring back on. Here's the only thing that worries me, his ring is inscribed with what my name will be after I take his last name. Will they take this as a sign that we are already married?

I was just thinking this could be used as proof that we are planning on getting married.

Any thoughts? Feelings? Just plain blabber?

Ok, I think I am starting to loose it. Tooo mucho stressss.

I took a copy of the engagement ring receipt and diamond certification... if you take the actual wedding rings, make sure you don't wear them unless you're already married. Which for a K-1 is not a wise idea for the embassy interview.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Nice. That makes it easier for everybody, the beneficiary and the embassy.

Thanks Mike!

Diana

I just wanted to give everyone an update, the new way of sending in Packet-3, thru email actually works. I sent it in the forms on Monday evening and I just received this confirmation email today (Thursday) :

Mr.

Thanks for your E-mail. the forms were received. you and your spouse will receive the appointment package aprox. 4 to 8 weeks.

Sincerely,

IV Bogota

So, really it was a 2-day turnaround time, If you consider, they didn’t look at my email until Tuesday morning.

Not bad, it works!

The best of luck to all the recent approvals!

Mike, just a quick question about the emailing of Packet 3 forms. In the signature line was a typed signature acceptable, or did you have to sign with pen and e-fax to the consulate. Thanks.

Omar, all of our forms were signed, including the ones in packet 3 that needed signing. I wouldn't recommend typing in a signature on any of the forms, you are just asking for problems later on.

good luck, Mike

Well, My fiance went to the interview, and they told her we did not provide enough evidence to prove that the relationship was real and that they need to interview me. Keep in mind we had everything, from photos, cards, engagement ring reciept, boarding passes, everything.

They gave her a letter saying that they need to interview me but that no documents are missing, just that they need to interview me.

I called the Visa Information Center, and scheduled an appointment for the 18th of September. Hopefully things go well.

Has anyone ever gone through this? Those it take longer for them to give the visa this way?

Gerald,

A few people have had to go through this and from what I've gathered is mainly because the beneficiary did not answer some of the questions properly, or because they saw some kind of error in the answers and they just need the petitioner to go to make sure everything is in order. What usually happens is you will have to go to the waiting area and wait to be interviewed, the CO will ask you a few questions and if they like your answers, they'll approve the visa.

I have a hard time believing that a woman shouldn't wear her "engagement" ring, as a matter of fact, an engagement ring is meant to be worn prior to the wedding from the night you proposed. Now for a man, that's different.... one should never wear a ring until after "with this ring, I do wed". Good Luck!!

Since I'm having a 2nd interview, am I supposed to recieve a 2nd interview letter, or do my fiance and I just show up on the date of our interview with the interview number?

In all honesty, I don't think an engagement ring is not that important. I never received one because we couldn't afford it and I'm sure there's lots of people out there who can't either. Don't get me wrong, I'd loooooooove to have my bling, bling on but when you can't you can't.

You just show up by 6:30 a.m. or so and tell the lady in charge of line 3 that you're there for a second interview. Show your original interview letter and she'll tell you where to go, probably window 32 or thereabouts. They will get your paperwork ready at that window and then they'll ask you to sit in the waiting area which is by windows 1-6 or 7 and you wait for the CO to call you.

Gerard...I went through this same situation.

1. just show up on the new interview date, you don't need the interview letter. They will have your name on the roster.

2. They want to interview you....than I suggest you and your fiance go armed with lots of evidence and go over all the questions that we put together in this thread back in November 2007 (maybe it was earlier, but I know its here). You want to be sure that you and your fiance answer everything as similarly as possible.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the replies, Diana and Andrea.

As for evidence, yeah I say we have good evidence, 50 photographs, including some of when we we together as babies. Boarding passes, emails, cards.

I was worried that I needed to present the original interview letter but my fiancee said they kept it when she went for the interview.

My engagement ring is just a simple Colombian emerald set in a white gold setting. We got it from the center in Bogota for 200 USD. BTW my original engagement ring was one of the wood type rings, but it faded.

The question I had was would it be wise to take in our wedding rings (which we already have) in the BOX (not on) to prove that we intend to get married.

I seriously don't think it matters. If you have all kinds of evidence such as boarding passes, pictures especially you with his family, pictures of you guys together, letters, e-mails, chats, etc., you should be fine.

Qu'o Colombia Club. :)

I understand the Bogota embassy is not doing DCF anymore - can anyone confirm that.

After 6+ years of marriage to my Colombian wife, one child and all of it spent living in Colombia (I have a Colombian resident visa and spend 360+ days per year here), I'm finally getting started on her visa.

This seems like a huge job, I don't know how you guys manage it. :)
