Hi all,

I found out yesterday that an uncle is traveling to Bogota tomorrow. Consequently, I asked him to take some documents down with him so I could avoid the expense and risk of mailing them to my wife. I will be attending the interview and will take originals of everything with me, but I want my wife to have everything in case I get hit by a bus or am otherwise unable to get to the interview.

I just wanted another pair of eyes to make sure I'm sending the correct things. She already has all documents that she is required to get. Please let me know if you see something wrong.

1. I-134 Affidavit of Support (Notarized)

a. Printed copies of federal tax returns for 2007,2006 & 2005 with photocopies of corresponding W-2 forms. I got an extension on the 2007, so I haven't actually filed yet. I have completed the returns, but I am waiting on a 1099 from a client to send everything in. Should I send the 2007 stuff anyway? I can't find my 2004 W2, so I can't send that year instead.

b. Last three paycheck stubs.

c. Letter from my employer stating my length of employment and salary. (Notarized)

2. Certified copy of divorce decree from my first marriage. Can I send a photocopy, or does it need to be the certified court copy.

3. Evidence of relationship - Phone records, emails, chat transcripts, insurance forms, etc.

Thanks for your help.

I think so. She already has my I-134 form, signed and notarized. She got her DAS paperwork, or at least one of the two items. An appointment to check her immunizations/records.

Question for all, about the cover letter for the package 3 papers, does anyone have a template I can follow? Word format or otherwise? What all did you put in there? I want to have the paperwork ready this weekend so as soon as we get our BGT number, we can fill it in and email the embassy.

Thanks in advance.

You should wait until you know that the embassy has received your case from the NVC before you send them anything. It has taken up to seven weeks for some people after they received the case number from the NVC.

Congratulations to the recent approvals!

Just an FYI on our AOS:

Today May 19 was our AOS interview in San Francisco.

We had to bring an interpreter just in case I was not allowed to translate, it was the good move.

Our appointment was at 8:15 AM and we arrived about 20 minutes early. It was hassle free getting into the building and to the reception area. We were called around 8:30 by the officer and she accommodated us inside her office. The only thing she asked for was: your current address, current phone number, your SSN and and am I still employed. She went to ask about 3-4 questions in the 485 -"are you planning on doing terrorism, have you received any financial support from the government, have you trafficked drugs"

Although we were approved, I would ADVISE and CAUTION those who used the Dr in Texas for "vaccination supplement". She raised eyebrows when she said that you live in California and you had a medical in Austin? After explaining my reason why I did what I did, she asked us to sign and date a sworn statement that said "my medical was completed, but never did I meet this doctor, go to office or examined by this doctor, and that business was conducted by mail". She said that we are approved but, we might get a call from State and Federal officials regarding the practice of doing mail vaccination supplements. ---- Your experience may vary ----

My argument was each of the local Civil Surgeons wanted a FULL physical and cost about $400. I did the mail method for convenience and believed that the instructions in the I-485 said, K1s who had physicals within the last year only need to submit vaccination supplements and not to a full physical. Her argument was that, a doctor who signs the paper, certifies that he/she has examined the patient. ---- Your experience may vary ----

She was really nice and was very thorough. En fin, we'll be waiting for the GC in the mail. She kept the I-94 and EAD card, and she wrote a few numbers on top of the K1 visa.

Thank you Club Colombia! It's been a journey and if had to do it again, I would without a doubt!

I'll always be around for any questions. Monica is active in the Spanish forum for K1 and AOS. If you need us, do not hesitate to drop us a message.

In reading various posts about vaccinations for a K-3 interview, there seems to be some conflicting information. My wife has her appointment with Dr. Roa two days before her interview.

From what I can gather, it is possible for her to have her vaccinations in her hometown before we go to Bogota for the medical exams and interview. Is this true? If so, how far an advance can she get them? I read someone post that it could only be up to a week before the medical. What has been the experience of those that went with Dr. Roa?

On another note...

Am I the only one who thinks that it's monumentally stupid to only have two doctors that can be used for the medicals? Do these two just do the medicals for spouse and fiance visas, or do they handle applicants for other types of visas?

Thanks,

CG
