Paola is in Bogota at the hotel now. Naturally she missed her flight and had to get another one later. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! I had arranged a driver to pick her up at the airport, of course she was not there. I am getting up at 3am to call her to make sure she is up and at the lab by 6am. I called and the driver will be at her room a little before 6am.

I have one question..............Packet 4 info says the size of the foto's is to be 5cm x 5cm. This is larger then a passport foto. The guy at the hotel says they are usually 4cm x 4cm. Who is correct? She has 6 foto's 5x5. Are the foto's for the medical exam a different size? We can easily get more foto's if need be.

Buck wih i had a definate answer for you...from what i have seen of the actual packet 4...they are 5 by 5...i would say stick to that...but to be safe see if she coulf get the 4 by 4 also

Stick to what the embassy requires...5cm x 5cm. Do not pay attention to what 'other' people tell you. Whos knows more, them or the embassy??

Trust the good advice here and what the embassy says. Keep us updated.

I have a gut feeling that it will not arrive in time, considering we still don't have Packet 3 from the mail - almost 3 weeks since it was sent. I'm already contemplating sending a fax to the embassy on Tuesday, Aug 14, and then call the following day to speak to them about getting another copy.

Chester, Paola never received Pkt 3 or Pkt 4 in the mail. I sent her to the embassy in Bogota to pick it up in person. she called the embassy, made an appointment and picked up the invitation letter. We printed off the info for Pkt 4 off the embassy site.

the pictures required are LARGER than regular passport photos. if you goto any foto japon or similar place just tell them its for the US Embassy( embajada americana) and they'll take the larger fotos. DO NOT ask for passport photos.

Quick note,

The VJ timelines do not project when an interview will be scheduled. VJ timelines only project NOA2's.

You are correct, they don´t project the interview date but they do track it. If one was to do a timeline search one would see the average number of days between NOA2 and the interview. Thus a search of Colombia petitions will allow the user to to do their own projection as to a likely interview date.

For Bogota interviews scheduled since the first of the year, the average time between NOA2 and interview is 75 days. Taking the package 3 shortcut should save some of this time.

Paola had her lab exam done this morning. hey told her she needs to have her birth certificate in english. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! I read thru Pkt 4 again, I do not read spanish real well but on Anexo B #4, it does not say anything about an english version as far as I can tell. I have looked high and low for a copy of her B-cert in english, I can not find it. We submitted that with the original application, I think. I thought I had it saved on my computer, I have everything else. With the intervew on Friday this is bad. I am back to the panic phase.......................input?, suggestions?

Update.......................I do not know who Paola is talking to down there. I warned her about this sort of thing. I wish I could speak better spanish. I should have known better to get her all fired up. She is getting the b-cert translated down there as we speak. I still think it is BS. I have read thru Pkt 4 again, no where that I can see does it instruct you to have it in english.

She does NOT need the birth certificate translated!!!!

Although, it will come in handy when you apply for AOS. So it's not a waste of time nor money. Bring the translation to the states. Just do NOT include the translated birth certificate in your packet 4.

Buck, I hope she doesn't get it apostilled since it does not to be. People in Colombia will try to convince her that she will need the apostilles only to make more money. It doesn't have to be.

Thanks Monoke..............I had expressed to her that we needed to be prepared and that over prepared was better then under prepared. When she missed her flight on Sunday, I told her that she needed to be on time for all the other appointments. She said OK...........The result is, I got her a little excited I think. I found out it was the taxi driver who told her the nonsense about the B-cert in english. It was someone she met at the hotel that told her she needed passport size foto's.

One problem that has come up thru this is that even though we communicate very good, at times details are difficult to express clearly.

I am pretty positve that Friday I will be posting a happy WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!! I will be down there in 2 days and will be able to sift thru all the chatter. I get a picture in my head of all these people "experts" telling everyone what to do and then the talk between others waitng for the interview talking about stuff. It is an emotional event and human nature to swallow what ever is given to you. Man, if not for this site and this thread I would not have a clue to know right from wrong.
