Thank You so much to everyone who posts on this site!! It is great to know that people are willing to help others with the same common goal!!

Ok, so I asked before about a Birth Certificate question for my cousin which led to one for myself...

I could have sworn I read somewhere on here that both parents need to be listed on the Birth Certificate. My fiances Birth Certificate only lists his mother. Is this going to be a problem? I don't understand why his father is not listed on it, and he doesn't know why either. His parents have been married over 25 years (he is 23) and he has an older brother...so it's not like she didn't know who the father was. Anyway....is this something we need to worry about? Thanks Again for Everyones help, I would be lost without this site!!!

Yes, this is kind of strange. Now the fiance with this birth certificate, is he the Alien Fiance or Beneficiary.

Becuase in some countries it happens but you need to know what the US Embassy/Consulate would want to do. You will either need to read the Packet 3 directions or see if you can contact them by email for a question.

It is normal to not have the father listed if it is out of wedlock and the mother did not list the father at the time of birth. There are requirements for that situation with many Consulates or Embassies.

Normally an Embassy wants what is called the Long form Birth Certificate with both parents listed. I am sorry, I think you need to contact other members who have gone through the same Consulate/Embassy or contact the Embassy yourself.

Naturalization N-400

It is ok to only have the mother listed....for some reason this is not uncommon in Jamaica. Also, do make sure and have a New Long BC...vs the older smaller one..

Thanks jamerican! I appreciate the info....We can get the long form at the Registrar General's Department, right? Do we need to specifially ask for the long form, or if we put it's for a visa, will they just automatically give it to us the way we need it? And is it really only 650J?

It's not uncommon for someone BC to be messed up in Jamaica. I think they intentionally mess them up so you have to go back pay the extra money to get it fixed. With one of my brother's, his birthdate is wrong. He is actually a month early than he thinks . I would get it fixed just in case when you go for your interview they try to pull a fast one on you for that. They will find any and every excuse to slid you the blue slip and waste your time and money.

sorry to take so long to reply.....DO NOT ORDER THE BC ONLINE....have him go to the RGD office and order it locally...I had an awful experience by ordering it online rush service HA HA HA...and finally after 3 months and my husband going in daily to the local office he finally got it... There is only one BC now and it is the long one so no need to request it. I honestly don't remember how much we paid because of the "rush" and I ordered 6 copies by mistake...I think it was $55us and a lot of stress!!!
