Howdy. Do you get more information when you infopass?

I called 1-800 number and spoke to an agent today. There was no waiting time and the agent was very helpful.

But then I realized that the agent have the same information I see on the online status.

If I make infopass appt, can I get more information regards to my application process?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the IO and the inquiry you are scheduling the infopass about. Some people have posted that they experienced a great session and others didn't get a single detail out of the session.

If the office is not too far from where you live, you might want to get an appointment and find out... else, I recommend you wait. I am assuming you are waiting on your ROC based on your timeline...

Absolutely. Infopass will give you way more info than you will ever get calling the 800#. I called customer service last month to ask why I haven't received my biometrics letter and the rep I spoke to was just reading standard garbage they tell everybody else. She even read the famous line, we will contact you if we need anything from you.

I made an infopass last Thursday and the lady looked into my file and actually printed out a biometrics appointment letter for me. I should be getting the original letter in the mail this week but I will do a walk-in with the one she printed out if I do not get anything in the mail this week. If you live close to a ASC office, I will suggest you make an infopass and get some "REAL" answers. Good luck.

I would think so... the IO was able to confirm that the vermont service center has not mailed anything to me after the BIO appt letter (i told her i did not have much confidence in our postal system).

Make sure you get a I551 stamp if you do go to a infopass, doesn't hurt to have it.

I'm little puzzled about making an infopass appt.

When I go online to make an appt, after selecting an office, I pick "You need Service on a case that has already been filed",

then on the following page, there are 4 options.

1. Order from Immigration Court

2. Case Processing Appointment

3. EAD inquiry appointment

4. Case Services follow-up appointment

I would pick #4 but I don't have "Service Request ID Number".

Can someone please guide me through this?

The matter of getting more or getting less at an infopass is subjective. There are 2 layers of information, one for the public and the other only for the USCIS. The former is given freely thru INFOPASS, toll free etc. The later is not available to the public, this includes information on why files are pending. So its usual to get nothing more than the standard 'your case is pending', they will not give you anything beyond that.

The toll free agent is a call center agent, the agent over him is a higher level supervisor and then comes the infopass officer. All these personnel have got nothing to do with your A file than provide you with status updates, its your specific IO who makes decisions on your file in his custody. In cases which are pending for a long time the infopass proves little more helpful as the file is usual transfered to the local office.

I usually just chose "I need more information" at the very beginning. This way they won't even ask you for your case number. Worked everytime.
