Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something? I keep reading conflicting things about which forms I really need for the interview in Kiev.

Do I need I-864, and DS-230 also? (if so on the DS-230, do I need one for the k1 and another for k2?)

If I end up not going to the interview, can I simply scan and email all the items I supplying to her or does the Embassy want originals?

I know each embassy is a little different so I'm only looking for advise from Ukraine members. -- Thanks!

Vika and both looked at post, and it looks like you are mixing the initial forms for the I-129F with the forms needed for the interview. The DS-230, for example, we remember as part of the information Vika needed to prepare for her interview. She will get a packet and complete list for the interview (probably) by mail once the K-1 file reaches the US Embassy in Kiev.

I think the lack of responses is probably due to the amount of information in your post. You only need the forms and information for the I-129F checklist here I-129F checklist. Start there, and worry about the interview stuff after USCIS sends you the approval.

Tom - I was under a little pressure to hurry off the computer before.

If it was needed, it would have been part of the packet sent to the beneficiary, right? So I guess I am wondering if she has the packet from the embassy, with the list. Vika doesn't have her copies handy, and I believe it was all in Russian anyway, and way over my head.

We had originals only where it seemed necessary or practical. My employment letter and I-134, were signed by my HR department or me. Tax returns etc. were obviously all copies. If Vika had to do a DS-156, I am sure it was signed in the original, but I don't remember seeing it. We went over the checklist by phone while I was online, then again in person - but it was a long time ago. Not much help - sorry.

Edited to say that Vika is sure that the DS 230 was either part of her packet, or given to her by the agency she used to help her work through some of the forms. I can't speak to its use, just that it does look familiar.

Edited by Brad and Vika

The Kiev embassy has fixed their broken link on the website to the Information Packet. Go here: https://ukraine.cms.getusinfo.com/visa-forms.html#p3 then scroll to the Fiancée and K3 Visa section and click on Information Packet.

That should answer most of your questions. It did mine. Diana and my application should be landing in Kiev about now. Hope to set up an interview next week for mid-June.

Anybody know how long the wait times are running in Kiev for a K-1 interview these days?

I just called the appointment phone Friday. The earliest appointment then was on June 18. I don't think I will be ready to make an appointment for another 2 weeks so I think that will put me sometime right after the 4th of July I think.

RE the info packet: That's the problem, they have the forms for the K-1 and K-3 mixed together in one packet and I think some of the forms are used for K-1 and some for K-3.

DS 230 and I-864 are not used for K visas in Kiev.

Thanks! That's what I thought be I wanted some confirmation of this.

You do NOT need the DS-230 for a K-1/K-2 IN KIEV. SOME consulates require those forms for a K-1/K-2 visa. KIEV does not.

You do not need the I-864. You use the I-134. ONE FOR EACH applicant WITH all attachments for each applicant. I have samples of I-134s for K-2s. PM me your email address and I will send you samples. They are subtly different than the one for your fiancee.

They will want original I-134s and of course original application forms from the applicants. I suggest, if you can, going to the interview. If the chid is under age 14 she does not have to attend and the mother can sign all forms. As I recall she is over 14.

The forms you need are

1. 2-DS 156 from EACH

2. 1 DS-156K from your fiancee ONLY

3. Medical exams for EACH

4. Birth certificates WITH translations for EACH

5. Marriage (or name change) certificates for your fiancee (if any)with translations

6. Divorce certificates for your fiancee (if any) with translations

7. Military documents, with translations from EACH, if any

8 Permission letter from father for the child IF she is under age 16

9. Police certificate with translation for EACH person over age 16.

10. TWO passport photos each

11. I -134 with backup from you for EACH

You will need ONE year's tax return (at least) attached to the I-134. If it looks better for you, attach 3 years. If your tax return form last year is good, just go with that. Attach personal bank statements for the past 12 months tro show deposits. OR (better) a bank letter listing deposits for the past 12 months. They want PERSONAL tax returns and PERSONAL bank statements, not from the business. You can submit a business P&L statement for the current year if you want.

A good way to calculate "current income" which is asked for oin the I-134 is to take your bank deposits to your personal account, through April, divide by 4 and multiply by 12. Add any known large contracts etc that will come later in the year. That is your current, documentable income which is supported by bank records.

Your proof of relationship should include any and all items you wish to provide. Photos, travel documents, emails, phone bills, etc. I had tons and they didn't look at it. Bring it all, let them sort it out.

One last comment about the info packet: It has instructions on how to fill out the I864. No mention of I134 anywhere!! What gives?

There are no instructions for the I-134. You could use either...or none. The form itself is nothing but a cover letter to what you attach behind it. Use the I-134 form and use the I-864 instructions as a guide.

One thing about the Kiev Embassy web site: They have the Fiancée visa listed under the Immigrant Visa section, when I thought it was a Non-Immigrant Visa. This is one reason I am confused about which forms they want.

The K-1/K-2 IS (most deifintely) a NON-immigrant visa. Kiev and many other consulates (it is not the "embassy" it is the consulate, do not confuse them or you will end up in the wrong place)

handle the applications in their immigrant visa section. This is good news for you. There will be about 6 people there for the immigrant visa section interviews and about 400 people for the non-immigrant visa section.

You pay thr NON-immigrant visa fee ($131) for each visa.

Don't worry, be happy.

DS 230 and I-864 are not used for K visas in Kiev.

I still love your avatar, but no way that is happening n Ukraine, unless it is ME. Must be from Russia...on the other hand the guy kinda looks like me. Lucky fella.
