Hi, all. Thanks for all the help. Our K1 sailed through and is on it's way to Moscow embassy.

Here's my question. In looking at flights from Moscow to Portland, Oregon some go through third countries. Options include Frankfurt, London, Kiev and of course Moscow to JFK or Washington DC.

Is it possible for her to transit through another country? Some of these countries it would be very hard to get a visa (Great Britain, Germany), while Ukraine I guess is pretty easy for Russians. Not sure on the cost, procedure for Ukraine.

Thoughts? Is this a bad idea?

Thanks!

Adam

Alla and Tonya and their boys and dogs come over together and transitted in Stockholm with no problem. Just don't leave the airport proper and no visa is required.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Chances are if they are able to stay in the international terminal they would not even require a transit visa.

FWIW, JFK and IAD are not third countries and would be there US POE if that is what you chose.

Follow the link and fill in the needed info and this part of Delta's website will tell you what if any added visas they might require

http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_travel_information/visa_passport_information/index.jsp

FWIW:

Kyiv - NONE, can enter the country if desired no visa required

Frankfurt - Transit Without Visa (TWOV) if continuing on within 24 hrs without leaving transit lounge

London - TWOV ( might be different if needed to change airports)

I believe that she can transfer in any Schengen country (almost all Western Europe except England) as long as she doesn't need to leave the airport. My wife transferred in Paris a couple of times, and Amsterdam also, with no problems.

Agreed,

A single stop should not be an issue... a double stop however, would be.

YMMV

We went through customs at London gatwick with no transit visa. The controller just said there's no visa and then got her boss and said we're married and then let her through. Rather simple and quick in London.
