Hi Everyone,

I'm preparing for Tanya's interview and would like your advice and input. Below is the list of items I believe I need.

Q: Am I missing anything?

Q: What original items do they need from me or can I simply scan and email the items I need to supply her?

Q: Does it make a difference if I attend? Tanya will be traveling to the US with her 20 year old daughter who has been to the US a number of times. I would rather save the $1400 dollars for my ticket if I can but I don't want to be " penny wise and pound foolish " at the same time.

Just a thought on attending the interview, as it looks like you are pretty prepared with the documents. I made it a point to go, and was happy I did so. Lots of VJers here will tell you it isn't necessary, and don't spend the money. My wife wanted me to come to the interview, and it does provide more proof of relationship, or at least proof that we met recently in person, than any amount of documents. I believe that because I walked up to the window with her, they had no questions for her, other than to ask if she spoke English. I spent two weeks in Ukraine, ending with her collecting her visa and returning with me. More recently, Mapt, who posts here frequently, attended his fiance's interview and was asked to step back while they asked his fiance' a couple of easy questions. The visa was approved - no problem.

Others also adamantly say not to buy a ticket until her visa is in hand, and you do after all have two visas to worry about. I have heard of no legit K-1 petitions that were not approved in Kiev. Zero. The only only problems I HAVE read about involve criminal history, or raising hell in the embassy, or some such craziness.

The point I am trying to make here is that her interview may be easier with you there, for a variety of reasons, but she will probably be approved either way. The penny wise and pound foolosh statement you make is true for a different reason though. Culturally speaking, you get more mileage out of demonstrating you care so much that you would travel all the way to Ukraine to help her, than anything else you could do at this point. My wife still talks about how appreciative she is of the gentlemanly behavior I showed in making the effort to escort her back to America, even though she made the trip before.

The biggest issue with Kiev is documentation... if you have all the required evidence, then an interview is Kiev is anti-climatic and essentially simply procedural...

Even Mcat's fiancee got a visa

You had better hustle on the 20 year old and get her adjusted to resident before she ages out

YMMV

What do you think, do I have enough evidence?

My Application left the NVC today for Kiev. Yay!!! I too have a question about K2, minor children. What child-specific forms/documents do I need for him. Note Denys is 14 years old. I'm thinking only:

Separate DS-156's (2) for Denys +copies

Denys' Birth Certificate +Copies & Translation

Deny's (minor)International Passport: Original +Copy

No Police certificate because of age

2 Passport photos

Birth Father's notarized release letter +Copy & Translation

Anything else for a minor child?

Also, since the International Ukraine Passports are in Ukrainian and English, no translation is needed. Correct?

Thanks!
