Well your american fiancee should go to the office of vital records and request a new certified copy of her birth certificate and also to the courthouse to get a new certified copy of her divorce decree so she has them for her own records in case they are needed!

You should never send originals of these as you will not get them back. For documents like these you should send copies or certified copies. The originals could have been taken to the interview and presented if requested. Since the originals were already sent they may not request to see them but they might just ask for them again in which case the "new certified copies" will be needed.

Don't worry about it though, just tell her she should go get some new certified copies and keep on truckin!

You should submit copies of the USCs CERTIFIED birth certificate and divorce decree to the Embassy before the interview. You should have ORIGINAL certified documents of the USCs birth certificate and divorce decrees for the Embassy/Consulate at the Interview in the event they ask. They will probably not ask, but they can.
