DS230 Question

Hello Everyone. I am just trying to prepare and have ready all the documents ahead of time once I get NOA2 (hopefully in the next month and a half) and have a question regarding DS-230 form question 30.

My spouse actually stayed in a dorm for her college life. However, she used to back home during the weekend or every other weekend. Since that is not 6 months in a row, do I just not show that or should i just show it as her staying there for the four years?

Please advise.

If you're in college, that's where you're living. Wherever else you're going, you're simply visiting. No need to break those trips up.

Can you guys mix, TYPE and HAND WRITE on Form DS-230? Some of the questions cannot be type in to the computer. so hand writing it is the only option? any issues at NVC? Thanks

I did some hand type in G-325 A and also I-130 forms. I sent it out on 9th April, and also received receipt of notice. Looks to me it's going to be just fine. But I am yet to go through the NVC so I would also like to know about this. Since NVC is very precised as I read in another topic that someone has got an RFE for not writing dates in numerical order, although he did. So someone experienced plz answer this.

^^ Agreed. I put my only university location for the years I attended, had no issues at all.

I also had some boxes that would not hold or accept the typewritten response so I hand wrote those and was approved with no issues at all.

Question 25: Mother's family name at birth. Should the middle name be the one at birth as well or is the middle name going to be the one after marriage.

They are asking for the beneficiary's mother's full name at birth; surname, first name and middle name (if any.)

Thanks OBX. One more question, for question 33 where they ask for institutions attended, if you attended one school from 1st to 12th, under the course of study, what do you write? Also under Degree/Diploma, should i write diploma?

I only listed my education from high school forward. Under course of study I wrote "SECONDARY SCHOOL" and then "DIPLOMA". Good luck!

after filling fields which didnt run over, i saved the partially completed pdf form as a jpeg and then imported that pic into ms word. then you can use text boxes (w/o any lines, borders etc) and shrink the font down to whatever will fit in a specific box. that way i was able to type everything in. also, you can use typewriter tool (if u have adobe reader professional, which i have on my work computer).
