Hi Guys!! Anybody on this forum with a situation where NVC completes case and sends to Montreal but NO interview scheduled. They said for further information please contact embassy. Is there been times where Montreal schedules interview? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They don't schedule the interview as soon as it finishes at NVC - it will be scheduled, probably, in a month or two and you will be waiting approx. 4-6 months until the actual interview.

Also, you won't contact Montreal to find out when your interview is or if it has been scheduled, you will contact NVC.

Please fill in your timeline :)

In our case I-130 Acknowledged on May 8th 2009,Case completed by USCIS on December 8th, 2009 then sent to NVC and Case at NVC completed on March 10th, 2010 and sent to Montreal Embassy in Canada. NVC operator says we don't have case as it has been sent to embassy and please call embassy for further details.

So what your saying is, this is normal that after completion of case they don't schedule interview immediately and it takes 4-6 months for interview from time of completion?. But the thing I don't understand is why are they saying call Montreal for details as we have forwarded your case?

Montreal tells NVC the number of available dates for interviews and NVC schedules them. If you just completed your case then you're looking at about 2-3 months before you receive anything regarding your interview. Then another 2-3 months before your actual interview.

You can contact Montreal if you like, but they are terribly slow and won't give you any information. Call NVC regarding your case if you want answers. Yes, it is VERY normal for Montreal not to schedule an interview right after NVC completes your case. Like Trailmix said - 4-6 months from now you'll have your interview

Good luck

The operator gave you the wrong information. In fact you cannot call the Montreal consulate - they do not take phone calls.

Thanks guys for the your kind input. But let me clarify when I called NVC they said your file has been sent to Montreal and we don't have it so we don't know when your interview is going to be and for further information you have to contact Montreal as file has been sent for further processing. They are not answering my question properly.

So long story cut short the file has been sent to Montreal for further processing and you guys are saying this is perfectly normal and I have to wait at least 2-4 months for the interview. Correct?

I'm not sure why they are telling you it has been sent "for further processing". As trailmix posted I think they have given you incorrect information. You cannot call Montreal to inquire about CR1/IR1 visa interview dates, NVC provides that information. You can call NVC regularly to check or wait until they send you an email when a date has been set. Have you tried calling NVC again to see if you get a different response?

You can follow this link to the "IR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview" thread which will give you an idea of wait times. Good luck!

Thanks for your response. I have another question. My wife has a tourist visa and she is waiting for interview at Montreal. Question is whether she can come and visit me for couple of weeks and go back. Any problems with this scenario? Any input greatly appreciated.

I suggest you call NVC a coupla times over the next few days, ask the same question on the casefile. What you've described is mondo weird.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
