Visa Extension

I wanted to see if anyone has had any expereince with requesting an extension to the 6 months allocated to using the fiance visa? I have written to the Sydney consulate and am waiting their feedback but wanted to know if anyone has successfully obtained an extenion to the 6 months and if this is possible??

I have heard of extending the petition when it is at sydney waiting to be adjudicated, but not extending the date on the actual visa. I am guessing you already have your visa? I really would wait for an answer from Sydney on this, because it is an unusual request.

It can be extended by the embassy for extreme emergencies ( like a death) but otherwise you are looking at starting out all over again and paying all the fees again. Once you get the visa you do have 6 months to use it to come to the US. I would seriously try to wrap up whatever before that time.
